Cranberry gone too??
« on: July 13, 2004, 08:04:34 PM »
It appears that Lane #1 is very busy retiring balls. The XXL, Emerald and now it appears that the Cranberry is gone too. The XXL and Cranberry were released in the 2nd half of 2003, for Lane #1 that's a very short shelf life. I guess that they didn't sell well enough. It appears the Bullet takes the place of the XXL.
They now appear to have a big gap in their ball arsenal. The CB, BCB, Uranium, GN and SCB have hook ratings of 22-25. Then it drops all the way to 16 for the Bullet and then all the way to 10 for the XXXL. The next ball is supposed to be the Uranium Solid and that will probably be in the 24-25 range also. So, what are they going to come up with to fill the gap that the Emerald filled so well? And when? Or is that a niche that doesn't sell well enough?

With the Uranium being so versatilable for me, it covers such a wide range of conditions that as far as I am concerned the Emerald isn't needed. I can sand/polish my Uranium to cover anywhere from light oil to almost medium-heavy.
I have an Emerald and used to use it a lot until I got the Uranium. Now the Emerald never gets used except maybe when I am practicing.

Since I hardley ever see heavy oil where I bowl, I can cover most conditions with only two balls. My V2 Pearl and my Uranium. Should the oil get a wee bit heavy for the Uranium, I get out my old AMF Angle Evolution Extra.
