Darn whole bridge cracked out of my Agent Orange
« on: February 21, 2009, 12:23:09 AM »
I was throwing a good set and toward the third game I picked up the Agent Orange and the whole bridge was missing.  I have been throwing the agent Orange very well in this six game league for some time.  Put it away and took out another ball and it just didn't kick out the 10 pin like I was getting with the AO.

Gave it to the guy who drills my bowling balls out of his garage and he plugged the whole finger area and redrilled it the same.  Had a chance to throw it Thursday and the ball didn't miss a step.  Plugging the bridge had no negative reaction on the ball.

I still say the AO at 2000 Ablaron is the best first ball out of the bag Lane 1 has made since leaving Brunswick.

Did you have inserts?

Isn't the ball warrantied for such things?

Yes it had inserts.  With the great customer sservice that Lane 1 has, I'm sure I could have had it replaced, but why.  Just cleaned up the area and re-poured the whole finger area and re-drilled and the balls fine.

I have very thick fingers and the bridge had very good spacing bewteen the fingers so wasn't due to a thin bridge.  It might have hit something just the wrong way and shattered the bridge.  It was just at a bad time.  Wish it happened during practice or shadow.

Nic, I have seen the same thing happen to a pair of RotoGrip balls within the last week. One guy's Cell bridge cracked dead in 1/2 and the lane owner's  Cell PEarl developed a hairline crack from fingerhole to fingerhole. Abvout 3 balls later there was a chunk missing. Upon further inspection both balls were cracked all the way to the filler.

They are forcing the balls to cure faster and faster which leads them to be more brittle.
