Death of a most trusted ball.... RIP
« on: October 11, 2010, 12:37:52 AM »

Well, it happened unexpectedly during the second game of the night. I noticed a tiny split near the finger hole during the first game but didn't think it amounted to much. During the second game as the ball traveled down the lane it did an odd woggle-wiggle midway then hit the pins with a bizarre sounding twickle-crack. The ball returned with a cover crack from finger hole to thumb.

My most trusted ball, highest average ball, most reliable performer was - sadly - dead. Rest in Peace Cobalt Bomb - thanks for the 300 games and my highest set total.

Here are the images of the end.

First and only ball of mine to suffer such a tragic and sudden death.

Hi Dr Joe .. About 5 years ago I had a number of AMF balls crack on me. I was lucky enough to have the company replace each one .. in my case the balls were within two years of purchase. I was satisfied with how things went but I did steer away from AMF balls. Since then I have bought a few that have not had the cracking problem.  My thought is that manufacturers have resolved the problem. I know the feeling of losing a ball that you trusted .. like you .. 2 years later .. morning continues!
