my xmas gift I really wanted came in last night
« on: December 30, 2008, 12:56:21 AM »
for those that dont know, lane #1 has come out with a new 3-4-5 bag combo (like the kr and big b bag) great color combo and very well made.  been waiting 4+ months for it to come out and mine finally came in yesterday, black, silver and blue, very striking color combo, complete with the joey for the 5th ball
super bag.  cant wait for leagues to start back up

I had always wished for a storm 4 and 6 ball roller with a lane#1 logo

Bag looks good though.  I might have to get one of these.

I 2nd the motion on the storm made bag with the Lane #1 logo. If that were so I would own a lane #1 bag. I have a hammer bag by KR that I won from a website..... and I hate it. The storm 3 ball roller I have had for at least 10 seasons, looks dirty but I have never had one issue with it. It does not flip over when you are curb hopping with it like the hammer one does. The hammer one also RUSTED, all the snaps and and attachments for the shoulder bag.

its really well built, not sure if any of you guys have looked at the current KR line up but they are making a top notch bag right now, the 3-4-5 is stable doesnt feel tippy and is easy to pull and lift

plus the lane 1 bag is very very cost competitive with the kr and big b version

Nor Cal...I know that KR USED to make the ones for Storm. I guess this has changed. It is true that the new bags from Storm are significantly diuffernt looking than the old ones so I guess you may be right!!!

On edit: I have one of the 3-4-5 Lane 1 bags on the way so I can let you know how it compares to the old 3 ball style.

Storm probably makes the best 4 ball bag on the market right now. But the new ebonite/columbia/hammer/track 4 ball are nice too.
I had to change the wheels and axle on my KR 4 ball cause the inner bearing wheel on it came apart (4 wheel bag)

IMO, Storm has always had the best bags on the market. They have always seemed to have as heavy if not heavier material than the other companies bags as well as superior stitching, higher quality zippers and etc. It seems their bags last forever. I have had a 4-ball bag Rolling Thunder for years and it is still in as good of condition today as it was when new.

As for other companies bags today, I can't say if they are up to the standards of Storm Quality Bags or not as I haven't looked at any others recently. I do know that in the past that Columbia and Track had some of the worse bags that weren't the best of quality by any means and that Brunswick probably came closest to matching up to the quality of Storm bags.

I too just got one of the 3-4-5 Lane 1 bags and it's very nice. There are a few upgrades from the previous Lane 1 bags that are very useful. The 2nd long pouch down the one side is a welcome addition in place of the 2 smaller pouches on the old model. Also the straps inside the bag to hold the balls into the bag is a nice touch and very helpful for when you forget to zip your bag after a fun filled night of frustration.

There are only 2 things I miss. One is the accessory pouch...yes there is a small built in pouch in front of the shoe pocket but it's not detachable like the old one...I liked that option. The other is the separate compartment with the mesh holddown for extra towels, papers etc. I used to use mine to keep my cheat sheets, drill sheet, extra towel and stuff like that in. Kept the stuff flat and away from any oil, cleaner and dirt.

The coolest thing now is that the new tote bags also match the roller bags in terms of style and color scheme...it's awesome!!!

I just got mine in like this and I have a question maybe someone can help me with.  That detachable ball part at the bottom, if you unzip it and op to have it off do you just have that half open hole there?  It kinda hard to explain but hopefully someone will know what I'm talking about.
