Uranium Pearl (drill?)
« on: March 09, 2006, 01:04:46 PM »
I am looking for a Uranium Pearl, but my question is about pin placement. All of my Lane #1 gear has a 2-3 pin. Most of my diamond core balls are drilled label 1:30 or 4x4 stacked. I am happy with ball reaction on all of them so far. I am running out of options on the U-Pearl, and all I can seem to find is a super short pin or something in the 4-5 range. What differences should I expect with the longer pins, and can I stick with a label 1:30 drill with a longer pin? If so, is it more important to keep the pin located near where I am used to, or more important to keep the label near the grip center? Thanks for any advice...I know enough to be dangerous in this arena!

nova, I think you could use either long or short pin, but it depends on the reaction you are looking for. I had a U pearl with a 2" pin & fairly low top, & I put the pin just outside the ring finger & kicked the cg right with a weight hole. It rolled strong with a fairly early read for a pearl & still had a super strong backend reaction. I had a solid U with a long pin & high top which I drilled 1:30 label & polished it. That ball went long & turned hard at the break point. I would imagine you would get a very similar reaction with the pearl laid out that way.

mine has a 3 in pin stacked pin up over the ring, it goes pretty long but once it starts to roll it never stops.
