After having thrown my Dirty Bomb on several different conditions I'd like to put out a mini-review to give you all some feedback and hopefully help you decide if you need one.
I am told that I am a power stroker these days. I was searching for a ball/.drilling that would let me handle our house shot (32 feet oil, buffed to 40, 30-40 units 10 to 10 and blended to near nothing at the channel.
My pin over bridge Uranium was too sharp on the back, my 4x3 Golden Nugget was too early and my 2x4 Bullet didn't get there unless I played it direct and then I had to cushion for error. The 4x4 Solid Uranium puked at 45 feet even when played 5th arrow to 15.
So Richie and Chuck at Lane 1 suggested this drill pattern for my Dirty Bomb.
Ball specs:
Gross: 15-4
Top: 2.5 oz
Pin: 4"
Drilling selection:
Pin under ring, cg kicked just outside thumb
Weighthole on line drawn from grip center thru cg 5" from grip center
Weighthole is 3/4" x 2-3/4"
Ending weights:
Gross: 14 # 14-1/2 oz
Side: 1/8 oz
Thumb: 7/8 oz
Bottom: 1-1/2 oz
With the pearl cover and the rev happy core, this drilling should smooth out the breakpoint and widen the pocket some. The weights concerned me because I have never ben able to throw bottom or thumbweighted equipment.
Well all I have to say is....Richie, you are a genius!!! This ball cleared the heads so smooth and then made a strong move to the pocket but not a serious jerk. Now with the drilling and the ending weights I have to say that I am very impressed with the hit and carry. As I have stated bottom and thumb normally end up marshmallow fluff in my hands. This ball plain hits! It goes about teh same time as my Uranium but it not as sharp or abrupt which has allowed me to have some area.
After shooting 269 with it on the house shot I went to the day old shot that had not been redone and had a 4 person mixed team on it the night before. I moved my fet about 5 boards right and played it up the boards and withthe carrydown the ball didnt tae off but rather sat and blistered the pocket for a 244. Not a real high game but I started keeping score right from the first ball I threw too.
I then went to the SPORT shot that had been laid out for us to practivce on. It had maybe 5-6 games on the pair so all was good. Normally I had to use my Bullet to keep it in play and not overreact (2x4 drilling). well I got to move left anbd actually swing the ball !!!! This is the first time I have been able to swing a ball and get it back on our sport pattern (32 feet of oil buffed to 39, 15 at the 5 board to 35 in the center).
All IN al lI am very happy withthis ball so far and will highly recommend it to anyone looking for a juiced up version of the Emerald. That's the best analogy I can come up with...an Emerald with some more snot.
Feel free to contact me in regards to getting one of these little gems. They are due for release VERY soon :-)
