« on: October 23, 2004, 07:45:29 AM »
Ok, Buzzheads, go to http://www.lane1bowling.com and we just posted a little Dirty Bomb video clip. This ball makes my head spin. My favorite ball yet.

IEQ-  I did say I don't like the ball in the video, but I think it has great potential.  I wasn't impressed with the uranium video either, but I know that a lot of people like that ball.  I think Lane 1 should have another bowler style, to get different looks for everyone to relate to.  Just a thought.

Sorry IEQ, can't buy it.  This is Lane#1's description.

quote:
An extended long range weapon, it savagely flips, hooks, and corners hard as it viciously explodes on the backend destroying pins far and wide. Not for the big hearted, fair-minded, humane, milque toast bowler.

If you're going to write that, you better have a cranker with some axis rotation doing your video.  Maybe all the ball needed was a healthy dose of polish.

I'm sure the ball is as good as any other new release, but to claim a ball has a vicious exploding backend, then show the ball rolling out on your showcase video is silly.  Thanks to Lane#1 for providing the videos, but I think this one missed the mark.

I can vouch for the fact that the ball has sick backend. It's an awesome ball that I am struggling withright now.

My pin is under ring and the cg outside the thumb. The ball has a very strong backend and the ball does not quit....

True, I'm a power stroker, I like to control the midlanes and let the ball mix the pins, creating backend done with hand wrist positions. On the video I know and expect everyone to be a critic which is fine, some like to bash me (even though they have no clue I threw a certain shot with middle finger and thumb only, flat wrist, bent back wrist, etc. to show reactions) I just try to do a quick video for people to see what balls can do from different forms. For those that say this ball doesn't have backend, yikes what I'm I missing here, look at some of the shots, the ball just flips, set crush. There's one where I crank the ball and it goes 5th arrow to 4 board like 50 feet then crushes the pocket. And yes, I rolled the ball out (aka hook set) and look it still crushes. So if you really have hand then just imagine! Remember that these videos have a compression ration that takes the true speed down a notch. All people throw a ball different, people will get different reactions on the lanes, oil etc. they bowl on. Ahhh what the heck why do I gotta explain, no matter what ya do to try to be helpful, people look at things to bring people down in this sport of bowling, say this say that about people or bowling balls. Everyone's a so-called expert, its just a round thing, but this baby is something special, I'm telling ya, this is one to try out!

I just think that the shot was not optimal to show off the balls potential. Your golden nugget video is really what i expected out of the dirty bomb. The dirty bomb does hit hard and get strikes, which is the name of the game we know, but i think that it should have been thrown on a slightly longer pattern with a lot more sideroll to show off everything it does. Remember, you want to sell balls, and people are taken in by good advertising. People want to see the ball hook 20 boards in 5 feet, not see you crush the pocket continually with it hook-setting. I personally could care less if they had videos or not, i have never found a video of someone throwing a ball helpful in me trying to pick see what the ball is like. We are just trying to suggest how lane 1 could sell more balls, not criticizing the way you throw. Its just that who would the average bowler rather watch throw a strike (notice i didn't say game), Robert Smith or Norm Duke?

That is far from a strong layout.... No chance that layout will produce continuous backend... I have thrown my Dirty Bomb with this layout and it is as strong through the back as any Buzzsaw ever!!!!!  4.75 x 4 with a very shallow hole on my PAP.  I am a low track player with med/high revs with a 60 degrees of axis tilt.

This ball is a very good compliment to the Cherry Bomb... Alot cleaner and alot sharper... Beans
