It's a great ball, by all means buy it. But, I wouldn't drill a ball to try and get it to do something it's not designed to do. I own one, and I love it. While it may not be as "jumpy" as other pearls, it is a snappy (hockey-stick shaped reaction) ball by nature. As for "over-reacting", this seems to be a relative term that can defined differently by every person. I can tell you there are plenty of conditions that this ball is not suited for, and more times than not, a condition with very strong backends is one of them.
