drilling an Uranuim
« on: February 25, 2004, 07:12:33 PM »
After many weeks of debate I broke down and bought the Uranuim.  I just purchased the xxx factor and not all that excited about it.  So, any suggestions for drilling the Uranuim for high speed high rev player.  I have scored the best with my equipment that is drilled 75 degrees.  The xxx is drilled 45 degrees.  Ball would be used mostly for typical house shot.  Thanks.

I don't know what you're looking for but here are some Lane #1 recommended options.  Hope this helps!

I was debating as well on how to drill mine. What I ended up doing was taking the drill pattern I had on 2 non-Lane 1 balls and using it on the Uranium. I figured this would give me a good basis for comparison as well as a way to get rid of my non-lane 1 stuff.

My drill pattern is 5-1/2 x 3-1/2. Pin is over the bridge, cg out with a small (5/8x1-1/2") weighthole on my PAP.

This ball rolls a lot like the Inferno I have drilled the same way but at 40 feet is wheere the difference shows. The Uranium starts left but not with a jerking motion. It also continues better through the pins. The Inferno seems to hit and stop.

I would suggest you drill the ball with your favorite drilling and go with it. If you want a bit more length, add some polish. If you want a bit earlier roll, grab the 800 grit.

Get that puppy punched though...the ball is absolutely awesome.

Doug, you posted if you want more length add polish.  Specs on the ball are surface, highly polished.  I,ve noticed that most Lane one balls' specs say surface highly polished.  Why is that and do you generally use the box surface?
