I am wondering what surface grit to use, i shot 814 with it at what looks like 4000 abralon. This was the oob surface, but at this surface it doesn't hook much more than my evo. I am planning on taking the surface down to 1000 grit, with sandpaper and use a lot of water when doing this. I am not a big fan of the abralon pads, if i use sandpaper i know exactly what the surface is. I wanted this ball to be my heavier oil ball, so let me know what you think.

I haven't tried 1000 yet, but I took mine to 2000 a couple of weeks ago. The ball is allot stronger at 2000 then 4000. OoB I felt my AO (still OoB) was stronger then my Dyno, but at 2000 the Dyno is stronger

You shot 814 with this ball at the OOB finish. I wouldn't touch the cover with anything but a 4000 pad.
If you want a "oil ball" buy another one and bring it down to a 1000 pad.
814 you shot, and it doesn't hook anymore than your Evo. Wow that's amazing.
"if I use sandpaper I know exactly what the surface is" Amazing.
It's a 4000 A-pad, so why in the world do you feel the need to use sandpaper?
814..... amazing.

nice post, jls
what happened?

Roy Munson: "Morning! I hope you don't mind, I got up a little early. So I took the liberty of milking your cow for you. Yeah, it took a little while to get her warmed up. She sure is a stubborn one. Then pow, all at once."
Mr. Boorg: "We don't have a cow. We have a bull."

Don't know, I think I screwed up
Anyway, 814, that's amazing!!!!
Now I personally would not change that cover.
I use the money I won in pots and buy another Dynamo and take the cover down to 1000.
Anyway, nice bowling.

One of the owners from my pro shop took his down to 4000 with polish and now he's very happy with it. Says it's longer than the AO.

I just want to clarify that i am displeased with this ball at 4000, just looking to get the most out of it. The reason i wanted to use sandpaper rather than a a-pad is to see if their is a difference. I have read in different posts that most people feel that there is a difference, but for me there wasn't a real big difference atleast with this ball. I am going to take it back to 4000 abralon and leave it there, this ball is drilled rico, go figure, so with this drilling i have noticed a difference between pearl balls and solids. The pearl seems to store more energy with more backend. The dynamo is already a smooth arching ball so this drilling doesn't really maximize this ball, so if i want it to be more of a oil ball i would just drill another one and stack it. So as far as the 814 score goes, i just carried really well, because that is what it really comes down to in the end. Just because i shoot a good score with a ball doesn't mean i won't tweek the cover of that ball. I appreciate all the comments i got on this subject, maybe it will help someone in the future, because there is some question as to the real oob surface of this ball.
