Playing with the AO's coverstock
« on: May 29, 2009, 04:00:11 PM »
I bought an AO for the PBA Experience league this summer and then my plans fell through to join.

Now I have this beast sitting in my closet gathering dust, as I never see anywhere close to enough oil for it.  On my Wednesday  league I usually start with my Columbia 300 Rival (4000 abralon) during the first game and then switch to my T-Road Pearl (1500 polished).

I had the chance to throw a Buzzbomb/R awhile back, and what a beauty that ball is.  So my question is:  if I took the AO up to 1000 polished or 2000 abralon (unpolished) would I get a similar look to the Buzzbomb/R?  My experience with Lane #1 is the devastating carry, and I hate to see the AO go unused.

Thanks

IMO, take it to 2k no polish or 2k and polish.  Depending on how much length you need.  Polish can always be removed.

If you need the ball to be weak you can always take it to 4k without polish(I got mine back from the proshop and they had it 4000+ very light polish it was a VERY nice down and in shot for me(probably less hand than you). I have since taken it down to OOB and love the reaction. I would really have to ask how strong is this ball for you? Is it WAY too strong or just enough where you arent consistant I believe that also plays a big part in how you work the cover.
