Who has the THS?
« on: March 11, 2009, 07:00:41 PM »
Picked up two of these, one for a buddy and others fate has yet to be deteremined.  My buddy is hoping the ball will give him something that rolls up vs jumps off the dry.

Stats:
16 mph on Quibica
Cranker
5 3/4 by 1 up PAP

Since I'm drilling it, I suggested a 2 x 2 layout.  That gives him something that reads the lane evenly and his rotation will allow it to hit and carry.  What do you guys think of this?

He is a bit of a ball ho.  He has the following:  Cell, Epic Quest, Black Widow, Illusion, Wrath, Ultra Sonic, Attitude Shift, Cherry Bomb....I know I'm missing at least 3/4 more.

by nature this ball will roll off the dry and not snap or over react, so taking it 2 x 2 may not be a necessity, we have put guys in the ball that are similar stat wise and even with a label drill the ball still rolls and glides off the spot  my fear would be that the 2 x 2 may be too short and roll up too soon and not have anything left for the backend

but I have not seen your buddy throw and you have.

Thanks for the input Trig.  He threw his Ultra Sonic:

which I laid out either 2 1/2 or 3" from his axis.  Even with the early rolling layout, it glides thru the front part of the lane and makes a pretty good move on the back.

That said, the THS has a much different rg values.  With its earlier rolling core, perhaps a 3" pin to pap and scuffing the ball to 2000 Abralon will smooth out the backend for him.

I personally have had great sucess with shorter pin to pap distances (my tsunami is 2.375 x .5 and it is a great rolling ball, everyone said it would turn up too soon but it is actually quite long and very big on the back (prolly the only ball i have that i can go up ten with, with my normal release)

The ths looks to be aobut 1500 out of box, one of my teammates has two drilled slightly different but with drastic surface changes, they are night and day, the polished one gets way down lane and moves, where as the other one is slightly earlier

where does he want this to fit?  what condiditons is he trying to control?
