Elixir on Particle Pearl Balls?
« on: January 06, 2004, 06:36:37 AM »
The Golden Nugget is a Particle Ball. I know that particle balls soak up oil fast unless you use something like Doc's Elixir.

However, with the Golden Nugget being a Particle "Pearl", wouldn't the ball's oil absorbtion be much less than if it was straight particle?

Would the oil absorbition in this ball be the same as a Reactive Pearl?

I just got the ball today and haven't put Doc's Elixir on the ball yet and wondering whether to put it on or not since it has a Pearl cover.

The Golden Nugget is perfect as is right now and I am scared it will add too much length to it and take away the tremendous back end that I have. Elixir doesn't have any effect on my Emerald, but it does on my Blueberry. I recently had the Blueberry plugged and redrilled and it gave a little more length and a crisper backend, I then took the cover down from 800 to 600 and put Elixir on it and I lost the nice crisp back-end.

Brick,
I've noticed that Elixir is BEST on dull balls. I don't really see a difference in anything polished when I use it, although I know it's helping.

The length difference varies in different people, but I don't think you'll see that much difference and it would only increase your backend..........

Learn, you said

Is this foo-foo sauce (lol) Elixir?
That was sort of my thoughts when I posted this Topic. My actual thoughts were to re-sand to 800, then NO polish, then put on the Elixir thinking that maybe it would sort of "make the ball think it had a light coat of polish on it."

My Emerald and Golden Nugget both have very crisp backends and totally "blow the pins away" when they hit the pocket. Maybe I am expecting too much in trying to make my Blueberry that strong. Even though I now have it hooking decent, the strength of hit still doesn't compare to the Emerald and Golden Nugget. I need a little more time with the Golden Nugget, but it appears that with it covering such a wide range of conditions, that it will cover all of the same conditions that my Blueberry does and even some that the Emerald does, and I could end up only needing two balls in place of three.

"I'd guess forcing the Blueberry to fit is a losing proposition. Emerald + GN should overlap safely."

Never-Learn, you have confirmed my thinking. Thanks.
