End of the line for Lane 1 ?
« on: June 13, 2009, 09:15:02 PM »
Here is a direct quote from SAW_EM_OFF (Kevin Blackmer , Lane 1 staffer)from the message board on the Lane 1 site

"
well either of us "mike" or myself get paid to do any kind of promo or demo. now mike is a very busy business hit the grind kind of guy, he really doesn't have much time to even eat.lol but he does what he can.

me on the other hand i am 60% disabled veteran, who hasn't had a job in 7 months. i have even went into debt going out of my way doing the whole pro-shop -to pro-shop in houston and got no where fast. other then broker then broke. with no help from lane#1, all i got from them was and I quote " well we didn't ask you to do that" i will no longer go out of my way to do anything special. I will on the other hand for business like selling the lane#1 equipment which i have produced 98% of all sales in houston are through ME, person to person face to face sales. i have purchased almost 5,000 from lane#1 just this year alone and of course i have sold all that .

what bothers me is when i am told by lane#1 hey your gonna get this or your gonna get that and they don't deliver. well after a couple times of that then i pretty much don't hold my breath on anything.

now lets talked about some facts and maybe get prepared for what maybe coming.

1.it wasn't till feb or later when lane#1 said oh where not haveing a booth this year, but we all heard that form outside this forum. then richie posts it up.

2.then i was told that lane#1 was going bankrupt

3.then you dj, heard on other sites that theres no pba reg for lane#1,
well then when pressed by you guys richie come on the forum and lets us know, what is going on. if you noticed that change in his writeing and match that with course of actions i have just posted on number 2. richie stats the economy is bad, which we all know it sucks right now. but he also went on to saying that the BANK LOANS had caught up with the sales. that means when that happends it's the end of the road partner, if not then its not far away.

lane#1 is takeing some HUGE sales loss due to this mishap, which i wish richie the best.
its not easy for him to say no we can't do this summer. that is a tuff bullet to bite for any business owner who has molded this awesome company by his bare hands 18 years ago, well for those who know it really started before that even. anyways i'm not sure where lane#1 will be in the next season, but you know visionary has no registration but they have several offiicial staff players who get a lot of equipment. and there smaller then lane#1 mmmmmm.. whats wrong with that picture.

well i am not being ugly i am just letting those who don't know, KNOW!!
i'm not sure where i am going to be next JAN.

i wish everyone the very best. remember you can only change what you physically can touch.

Looks like Richie and the boys are in serious financial trouble ,which is sad.

ive seen the same treatment at the pro shop I go to. they call him up and give him some sort of sales pitch and say ok we will send you this... yet the pro shop owner never asked for it. next thing you know theres a bill for it. (why wouldnt they just give a sample?)

it sucks if they go out of business but its tough in this industry. everyone just steps all over the little guys.

It' harder to compete when companies like Ebonite and others sell top notch equipment for $159.95 at the retail level(pro shop) in this economy. You pretty much have to buy Lane1 stuff online to get a deal and this is not where the majority of league bowlers buy there stuff. Example, Mr. Sterner sells a Teal THS for $105 which is one of the better standard league balls(THS) I have ever thrown and the price is good with drilling at your local pro shop, but how many league bowlers but there stuff online. This is a major problem. I hope companies like Lane1 and Lanemasters can hang in there as quality over quanity is great, except in a bad economy!

I'm not going to believe any of it until I hear it straight from a reliable source. From what little I have heard, the poster is a disgruntled former staff member that may have gotten a little too big for his pants and thus is no longer a staff member.

Interesting. I would never throw any lane 1 gear due to the way the guys on this board treat others.

Couple of things...

1) The vast majority of the bad treatment comes from pot-stirrers who come onto the Lane #1 forum and try to get under people's skin. I've said this before but people who like to needle other people for their own amusement have personal problems. About 99 percent of any "bad treatment" coming from Lane #1 owners comes as a result of being poked with a stick first by someone else, and I can actually understand the response.

2) Deciding to throw or not to throw a ball based on perceptions of behavior on an Internet forum ... well, let's just say that doesn't make my top 100 list for trying or not trying any product, bowling-related or not. Regarding bowling balls, you should be concerned with what works for you above all else. If that means buying a ball called the "Turd Monster Pearl" that is green and brown swirled and is infused with the scent of bat guano, so be it.

What you mentioned about being sent what most would be considered a "seed" ball and then getting a bill for it later is the primary reason my local shop doesn't carry Lane #1.  That wasn't a recent occurrence either, this was back when the Silver Diamond was either originally released or re-released.

I'll tell you the two responses you'll get.  First from the sane people saying, I told you so.  And second from the sawheads saying this is a bunch of lies and Lane #1 is the best selling stuff since sliced bread.  I think I will pick to side with the sane people.  The insanely high retail prices and the crappy advertising full of lies has finally caught up to them.  Why do you think they didn't register with the PBA?  Ummm maybe no money?  Oh and the fact that the best bowlers in the world know their equipment is a bunch of crap that gets hyped to no end so they choose not to use it.

So long, farewell, I'll even say goodbye...

ok lets clear the air

this guy was signed during the staffer promotion that lane 1 was running, he won the contest and was probably told every new release, his job was to sell their stuff and promote their goods, 5k in one year is crap, my dynamo order was that much, i dont do anything but online and i am 3 to 4x's that in a year on a good year.

my guess and it really is more then a guess is that during these slow economic times lane 1 (who runs in the black every year) is watching their pennies, a guy selling 5k a year and is getting every new ball for free is not doing a whole lot of good.  lane 1 is very solvent and still runs in the black, but in order to insure future growth and continuation, company cuts must and often are made and people do get angry and hurt over them, most move on and go to the next deal but some like this "staffer" lash out in other ways.  Ive seen my seed balls go by the wayside as well, but Richie and co. have always always taken care of me and for that reason I will continue to sell for them, will continue to use their stuff, and push it whenever I can.  I dont get paid to do or say anything, my words and actions are all in accordance to what they have done for me.  Loyality is a strange thing, either you have it or you dont.
