The EPX-T1 is the beginning of a revolution in heavy oil action and new shell technology. This jump is as important as the leap from urethane to reactive resin.
I recently rolled the EPX-T1 - The Super Carbide Bomb - and the Ultimate Inferno in a test simulation. I am a power Tweener, with above average speed.
Lane condition: Heavily flooded oil, 38ft pattern, out of bounds outside 5.
This lane condition is considered one of the hardest to get a ball to trully finish, when playing a 12 to 6 shot.
Results:
EPX-T1 - Set up well, finished hard, carried perfectly.
Super Carbide Bomb - Never set up, sailed through the 3 pin continualy
Ultimate Inferno - Never set up, sailed through the 3 pin continualy
Click this link top find out why:
http://www.columbia300.com/innovation/techdocs.cfm?id=21
The reason is that reactive resin and reactive resin particle both have a series of small holes that they use to create surface friction to grab the lane.
Since the EPX-T1 is not reactive resin it does not have millions of tiny holes, holes that trap oil in the ball, oil that is really hard to get out. The EPX-T1 is an Epoxy shell, the first of its kind. The surface has thousands of dents or valleys on the surface, but they are only visible with a very high powered microscope. These valleys are sometimes 50 times the size of a reactive resin hole, but they are not holes, just fisures used to grab the lane. These valley act like small suction cups, making the ball rough and very very grippy. They create the most friction to date, and make the ball hook in the heaviest of oils, without over-reacting.
The best part is that this new epoxy shell has a really cool feature.
To clean the shell and rejuvinate the ball, and to remove oil from the valleys, just fill a sink with scolding tap water, and set the ball in the water with the water line on your track (keep all the holes, above the water line. Use a cork in a weight hole if its to low) Wait 20 minutes, pull the ball out and wipe off the lane oil.
The ball is suddenly good as new. Maby people did not know this and thought the ball lost its hook. With this technology you can do this every 20 - 30 games and the ball will continue to roll like new for a very ong time.
It is simply a new technology, and you can't approach this ball as though its another reactive resin.

if you can get it through 20-30games without cracking

I doubt it, the EPX is suppose to be a smooth ball, correct ?

Are the balls drilled the same? I've seen people take a very powerful ball and drill it wrong and come up with a dud..

Haha, that's barely a house shot in most areas... and if anything would be considered a fairly SHORT oil pattern... Try a 45ft or 48ft or even the notorious 50ft pattern if you want to talk about heavy oil... The other 2 were probably just burning up

Gameover that's a joke I have used the epx and it does nothing that you say it does just a smooth arc. If anything it would go through the break and never finish at the top hat. On the other hand the Super Bomb is a monster and on that condition would out hook the epx all day. Sorry, Go back to the Columbia forum.

Yes, they had a few shell blems... It happens when you launch a new technology.... I totally thought the SCB would smoke the EPX... but the new shell technology does make the most friction in oil...
I threw both ablls on the same flood with an unbias hand.. and was amazed...,
Both balls were drilled the same too....
I love my SCB, but if I encounter heavy oil, I pull out the EPX first.

lanes condition was double oiled 38 feet.... wasn't a fresh shot.. it was several oilings...
To make the story short, I normally rip through oil ok..... and this sh!t was total soup.... I never even seen this kind of oil befiore.. thats how bad it is...
a 50 foot oil pattern is a joke.... what kind of retard would pay to bowl on that kind of sh!t.
Bottom line is this..... No matter what lane condidtion it was.. the SCB failed miserably to fnish, hell it couldn't even set up.... Epoxy is a totally different surface.. that provides a totally different surface friction than resin/resin particle in heavy oil. It like comparing Urethane to Reactive resin in the old days.
-
If you own one... Use the hot water bath and rejuvinate the shell.... that is the reason you are not seeing the reaction, or potential.

Me, a few years ago the Boot Hill was conducted on a 50 ft pattern.

Considering the fact that N2L is the same guy who said that the Absolute inferno is a "partical" ball, I'm not gonna take this review to heart....Considering regardless of the epx's strength, I find it highly unlikely that a house would oil the lanes enough that a SCB couldn't move unless they set up a "We're going to oil the lanes a ridiculous amount" tournament...
EDIT: Not to mention he's also the same person who says that extracting oil from a reactive ball (by the hot water technique) will ruin it.....

ragnrk... you probably got the revs of a woman....
shot 762 tonight with the EPX-T1 .. when nothing else would hook even a little.
-
a_ak57 .. was the raging inferno that was particle .. i made a post about calling the absolute particle, was just a mistake.
-
so how do you resurface this ball and keep the thousands of little dents or valleys?
--------------------
I'm not bad,I just bowl that way.

Now that's the $64,000 question..? =:^D
-
When you resurface it.... It will always have the same type of surface.
Funny thing is... you dont need to resurface it.. just put it in hot water for its bath every 15 games or so...

No - that's only half the story. The really scary thing is that their vote counts the same amount as mine...

CrankI,
I would love to be able to take the challenge; me and my SCB against your EPT (oops, I meant EPX; LOL). There are variables that I am sure that have not been discussed as to your self comparison of the two balls. Maybe for you the ball did not set well; then again maybe you were never taught how to properly handle a Saw. Until I see it in a professional testing real, I would not begin to believe your claim that the SCB could not set up to the pocket.
You are entitled to your opinion, and if we ever were to meet, prepare yourself for the power that IS a BuzzSaw, in the hands of one that understands how to use it.

The name of the game is score, not hook. A friend of mine just won a 42ft sport tournament with a Monster Reactive Pearl not too long ago and he's no high rev player by any means.
