Title: F.O.S./ BR Get-Together

I was thinking about one of these like we used to have around here.  I am located in the High Desert of California, but would be willing to travel up to 6-8 hours, if finances permit.  We had one in Vegas once, in Laughlin, NV,  and Fremont, CA.  It would be nice to meet some new people and the old friends too.  Let's see if we can come up with some sugestions, my choice would be Las Vegas, and we could bowl at Samstown and the Orleans (bring you heavy equipment, for there is oil on den thar Orlean boards).  We could see if Mr Buzzsaw and Buzzman could make it, and have one great weekend.  Just food for thought.

That sounds like fun. Vegas is only about a 5 hour drive for me. I'm headed for Laughlin in september, but unfortunately not to bowl even though its with our league. The only problem is, I think most of the guys are those eastern guys, & it may be hard for them to get out here. I know it would be hard for me to go back east. Good idea though! We could have a saw against saw, east against west type shootout.

What if we picked a place centrally located?  I would be willing to travel more if needed.  We could choose Ohio or Missouri or someplace in between.  We could take donations for those who had trouble.  We just do not have all the meetings we used to.  I wish to take this moment to put ole SrKegler and Barry up on a pedestal, so-to-speak.  I remember the first gathering we had in Fremont, money was tight for me, and I was going to have to cancel.  SrK and Barry spared no expense to ensure my participation; Barry paid for a night in a hotel, and SrK sent me a more than decent aid, and when I told him I would pay him back as soon as possible, he said no, that it was a gift.  When we all got together, I felt bad because I felt like a mooch, but these guys would not allow it, and that was all that was said.  What it all comes down to is this site being a family, and if I were still in the military, I know I would help someone get there like these two guys did.

All the guys that were at that gathering were like that, even Pchee2, for all his banter and tough guy talk, he has a generous heart.  I find myself making a comment like my parents, "ahhhh the good ole days!"  Let's just see what people come up with as far as location and time frame; of course we can't please everyone, nor is everyone able to get the time of when it is decided upon, but it's still fun!!  I like the Saw against Saw, and I would love to travel to Syracuse or nearby so Mr Buzzsaw and Buzzman could join in.  We used to have pot games for singles, doubles, and team.

Well, I like the East, West, and Central kind of theme.  Hey there junior, before you leave home ask your mom for an advance on your allowance, 'cause you're gonna need it.  Let's start shoring up the dates and meeting places, and if you are able to, you may attend all the gatherings.  As for the West Coast, I say Vegas is a close place where there are good lanes, and more to do besides.  I am good for weekends.  

As for the East West Saw competitions, once we got names, we could team up and record our score here, just like they do for the on line tournies and leagues.  Lets just keep this going please!

I like the east, west, central idea as well, but can't we just pencil in our scores & pretend? Doug just posted info about his FOS shirts in the specials section, & I'm going to try to eek one of those into my budget. If we make it at the Orleans, I'll be sure to bring my SCB or super carbide!

Well, you guys just missed the big one.  About half the people at the years gathering were FOS members.  Why reinvent the wheel, just make plans on being in North Carolina next year.  Got a whole year to save up that way.

It will be in Winston-Salem NC, just not sure of next years dates yet.  Sometime in May thru Aug.  Depends on what Rons schedule is for that year.  Personally, I like late July, Thongprincess & Pinnut are out of school then and can make the trip.

I would like to see us get some Buzzsaw/FOS teams together for the nationals in Reno next year.  How about that guys?  Let's look at putting solid teams together for nationals.  That sounds great!

Whatever you guys come up with is fine. If it is getting teams together for the nationals in Reno. I'm all in. Just give me the date and time in advance. Plans for me can be made. I'm not at all sure set on a definite date for my Fiancee and i to get married. I'm leaning toward Vegas or Niagara Falls for a spot. Just a note Nationals in Reno for 2006 is the USBC Women's.  The USBC Open Nationals isn't in Reno until 2007, 2006 is Corpus Christi, Texas.

Thanks Thongprincess, you are right as i will be in Corpus Christi in May of next year for Nationals. I'll be there the Weekend of memorial day as it is also the soon to be Mrs Birthday on the 29th. if you guys decide on anything else that will be cool....Kegel has a big summer tourney down in Fla. or we could meet for teams at the Lilac on the East in Rochester. I am in Chicago so i can go left or right. The Hoinke is in Cincy.  There are ample possibilities for next year if we can all get advance notice could be quite fun...>>>>>>>>>>>>THERE IS ONLY LANE #1.

Ok, Then we can get teams together for Texas Nationals.  I am not sure I will have the time to organize, but can help if someone starts.  We need to find out the months available, then we can find who can attend what months/dates. Oh, and thanks TP, I had no idea of the venue for 2006.

No problem, I just knew the women I bowl with who generally never travel nore than an hour or so for tournaments are all excited to go to Reno.  I've had my team together for over a month, we're just waiting for Sept 19th when we can make our reservation.
