First Impressions of the Agent Orange
« on: November 09, 2008, 05:56:41 AM »
I had the time Saturday morning to drill up my Agent Orange and throw a few balls with it.

Specs:
PreDrill
Gross: 15-4
Top wt: 3-3/4
Pin: 3-4"

Layout and specs:
5-1/2 x 5 Pin over bridge
No weighthole
Gross: 15-0
Side:  3/4 oz pos
Finger: 3/8 pos
Top: 1-1/16 pos

Surface:
I knew the 500 grit Abralon finish would be WAYYYYY too much so I stepped it up to 4000 grit without polish.

First impressions on our house shot AFTER the teenagers got done with their Junior bowling set:

1. This ball looks way cool going down the lane!!!! The charcoal grey/ orange flipping going down the lane is just an awesome sight.

2. The ball ignores the heads, reads the middle well and has a HUGE backend reaction.

3. Pin carry is way above average...far better than the BuzzBomb/R in my opinion.

4. This ball recovers from ANYWHERE!!! I threw a few balls that stood NO CHANCE of getting to the pocket much less striking...BUT the ball got there and eventhough they didn't strike they left easily convertible spares.

The ball is significantly stronger than the Evolution, Teal THS, SuperNova, SuperNova XP, BuzzBomb/R, or original G Force.

Total hook for the Agent Orange is just a tad less than the original BuzzBomb (at 2000 grit) BUT the coverstock and layout get the ball to read later which gives the illusion thatthe ball is actually hooking MORE. My Pin over ring BuzzBomb will start to pick up around 38 feet while the Agent Orange waits until around 40 feet.

This is just a fantastic addition to Lane 1's line up. Want a good 3 ball strike ball arsenal? Chainsaw, Agent ORange and BuzzBomb will cover almost anything you run across.

Will post more as soon as I get more frames on the ball.

I am considerring a similar drill Doug.  What is your pap?  as I am over 5 up 0 that drill would put me at about 5.5 x 5 where as my BB/r is 5 by 4.5.

I am also considering a 3.375 x 3.375 type drilling but am not sold on it yet

Trigger I am 5-1/4 right up 1/2 so not all that far off from you.

As I said the ball is a beast on the backend.

I took it to 4000 grit and after speaking to Chuck today he said that 4000 without polish is an awesome surface for this ball.

Doug, how about a video of you throwing this ball. I'd like to see some other people throwing it besides Buzzsaw Mike. Trigger, maybe you could make a video for us to see also????

I will probably be the first to leave mine in Box condition, with my speed.  I will be talking with Doug as to a strong drill.  My PAP is 5 1/8 rt and 1/4 up, which seems close to Doug's.  The main thing I am happy about is that Doug and I are back as a team of driller and bowler (that is Lane 1 bowler).  As soon as I am able, I will post any results, but it may be awhile.

ball 15#4 oz
3" pin
4.25 top
drilling see below, no x hole requred

little follow up as i punched my agent orange up this evening, just enough time to throw some after drilling to check out fit and feel, I drilled this ball with pin  in the ring finger and cg out about3/4" and then hit it with 4000 abralon no polish, synthetic house, typical house shot but out of bounds outside 6-7 board area

first impression is the ball has a ton of midlane and no quit on the back, very remenisant of the original BB but longer, threw it side by side with my BB/R the BB/r had no recovery to speak of outside of 6, where as the AO attempted to recover and made it back to the 3 pin vs the 6-10 slot for the BBR
standing on 35 with my left foot targeting 15 at the arrows and 8 at the break, the BBR was very light in the pocket, where as the AO was very high/close to brooklyn on the same line.  hoping to shoot some video of it on thursday night after league to get a real good comparison of the two, may even throw a tweener in there too as comparison of cranker type vs tweener type

Cant wait to see this on our THS as I think with the 40 feet of oil this ball will glide and move hard off the back

for comparision the BB/R is drilled pin above ring, cg stacked  1000 grit sand with beans sauce
Agent orange pin in ring, cg out 3/4" 4000 abralon no polish

Will follow up more on friday after getting a chance to throw a complete set with it

Doug has given HONEST reviews of every ball he has reviewed.
He has said straight out, he does not match up with it all.
