H20 Review- Excellent Piece
« on: April 26, 2005, 12:56:03 PM »
I usually dont have time to do any reviews anymore, but I liked this piece so much I felt compelled to share my thoughts with others.

Thanks again to my guys (Richie, and Chuck) at Lane#1, for letting me test all the stuff out for you.

I have had my test ball for awhile now, specs out of the box were 2.3 top, and a 1-2" pin which is perfect, since I love shorter pins.

I drilled the H2O in a stack pattern ended up a 3 7/8" pin, and 3 15/16" cg from PAP, with the white locator pin right at 6" from axis, a very strong drill for me. Pin is just below my ring finger and just a hair to right (LH drill) cg and (MB) locator pin fall right dead in line.

First day out with it(practice)was on med house pattern/synthetics which I see alot of here, ball shined. Carry was shockingly good, and I am a very hard critic on bowling balls, even Lane#1 stuff. carried great down and in outside of 5 with big speed and no hand. Excelled just as well inside hitting 18 out to 8 with less speed and a much bigger hand at release. Some regulars, the lane man and a couple counter workers started to come down and see what I was throwing this day and watch , and the ball didnt dissapoint, had to be over 20+ strikes in a row or so, didnt have scorers on.  This is the kind of ball when you first throw you just know its a keeper.

I couldnt leave a 7 pin with it no matter how hard I tried, or how flat I released the ball. The ball was not squirty or over/under at all, which was a very pleasant surprise.

I compared it to about 15 different balls that day, but wont bore you with all of those here, will just compare it to some of the Buzzsaws that I prefer and own, so the Sawheads here can get a good comparison.

Side by side with my U Prl (my personal favorite), U Prl read the lane much earlier, and covered more boards, but was too much and too early for this pattern. Tried Dirty Bomb Pearl and was the same, just too much. Pulled out my Viper, wanted to compare to my Bullet, but couldnt find it (too many balls not enough time to keep looking), figured the Viper will do fine for this test, since the 2 are fairly similar. The Viper was weaker and less overall than the H20.

Had a Classic Zone that I sometimes use, with an ultra high gloss on it, and overall boards were closest to this of all the balls I compared, but the H20 just crushed it in overall hit and carry.

The H20 has great length and the new core seems to be a perfect match to this Pearl Hybrid cover. Lane#1's first MB ball is a resounding hit, and has a place in everyones bag for those med/dry conditions. Has control with that big hitting power, and the ability to turn the corner, unless you have ZERO hand, or a supreme flat flood on the lanes. I would not be surpised to see Lane#1 keep this ball around for awile.

Buzzsaw lovers- Uranium Pearl/Dirty Bomb Pearl too much, Bullet/Viper not enough, this is the ball you are looking for.

If anyone is interested, I will have over 100 of these arriving late this month, message me here or at Kidace1@aol.com
