uranium pearl, which drill?
« on: April 29, 2005, 04:11:23 AM »
so i won it on ebay.  it should get to my house today, how should i drill this one?

here's the spec:
BALL WEIGHT: 15LB 3OZ
TOP WT: 3.00 OZ
PIN: 1-1/4"

i usually like to maximize the ball's strength.  i've heard that this is very rolly/predictable ball.

i want this ball to save energy and make a huge backend move with maximum carry potential.  i usually use UI with stacked leverage for heavier stuff and xception drilled long/strong (pin up/mb in strong position) for lighter stuff.

i also have:

storm xfactor deuce (as rolly as UI but a lot weaker overall)
hammer blade reactive (touch earlier than xception)
rotogrip silver streak pearl (ready to retire, replaced by xception)
track ez money (lots of games, but still used sometimes)
track animal (220 grit, only for soups)

i was thinking maybe i could use this ball to fit between UI and xception.  possibly later and stronger than hammer blade since it's a pearl ball.  i'm a high tracker with decent rev on the ball.

how should i drill my first lane#1???

I concur.  Also that short pin really limits your drills and the length your going to get, I saw it on Ebay thats why I didn't bid I don't take anything less than 2.5 pin out.

so what would be a way to maximize length with a short pin?  also, maximum length with 1-1/4 pin, what is that equivalent to?  (say comparing to a ball with 3" pin)

Scottie hit it, drill it label 1:30 give you as much length as your going to get, you would just get more with a longer pin out.

maximizing length (although on a short pin), wouldn't this be too lengthy?

Nothing is going to be too lengthy with that short of a pin that is the point I was trying to make(sorry for misunderstanding), If you want as much length as you can get via the short pin then drill it label its one of the few and best short pin options.  You said you wanted energy retention and huge backend it will give you as close to that as you can get.

ashzero, I would go with a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 stack, with a little finger and side weight. Drop your midline of your grip about 3/8" to add some finger weight. Place the balance hole 6 3/4" from the center of your grip, drilled back to 1/2 side. Ending with roughly 1/2 side, 1/2 finger, 3/4 top. Go get um..!! =:^D

another way to get a bit more length after you drill the ball is sand the ball perpendicualr to your track and then shine it back up.This will go a bit longer if it still checks up to early with that drilling
