Good Ball for the Dry?

Hey Guys,

 My first post on here and I've been considering a Lane #1 ball for awhile now, but my local pro shop and most the bowlers around here don't know too much about then. I'm looking for something I can get down the lane easily with a fairly tamed backend. I am a power player, but don't know my exact rev rate. I throw it around 16 mph and have a fairly high track (usually right around the thumb hole). I never realized how complex bowling until I started reading on here and observing how analytical the sport can be. My current arsenal is all Storm equipment and I have a Shift (which I hate), Thunder Road Pearl (most versatile ball I've ever thrown) and also a Jolt Pearl (nice ball for dryer condition but backend a little too snappy when the backend are real torched). I've always mostly thrown storm but I really want to try out some new equipment so I recently bought a RSX300, No Mercy and a ThunderStruck Pearl. I haven't drilled any yet, but I know they won't be good for the roast. I was looking at the Blue Cobalt Pearl from Lane #1 and thought maybe that would be good? I obviously want something with a little more coverstock than plastic, but not by much. Hope to here some insights from my fellow bowlers and Lane #1 bowlers. Take Care!

XXXL

Bullet

H2O

Cobalt

whereas the cobalt and H2O are almost equal about lenght and backend (H2O is a bit longer) but the Cobalt is a good stronger rated by Bowling this month.

And there are always the old balls

XL and XXL but I can only give you input on the XXXL:
plastic... doesn'T like any oil at all and will leave nasty stuff if not played right... at least mine gives me lot's of over/under... but that could be the layout..

the other's I haven't seen nore played ...

If you'd like to wait till I got my H2O I ordered (and drilled) I can say more 'bout this ball..

Friend of mine owned a bullet but it was too tame for his taste but imho a very good dry lane ball... and others say they can use it as spareball...

well 20 hits and I am the first to write an answer... this tell's us the question is not easy to answer but imho the Cobalt pearl (rated as strong as my Tsunami by BTM ! ) is not meant for dry lanes but could be if layed out right... other's my have a better clue here.

When it comes to Lane 1, there is NO OTHER dry choice than the XXXL.  I cannot imagine any other Lane 1 user believing that their is a better truly DRY lane ball.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I can get a decent price on an H20 so I may look at that one first, but the XXXL is plastic right?

XXXL is plastic.  If there is some head oil at all, I would recommend the Bullet.  It is designed to be a low-flaring piece and the cover is pretty weak.  It is beautiful on a burned up track area if you normally play on a typical house shot.  Just move outside and let the ball use the dry to get to the pocket.

I found with my Bullet that often times it was easier to use outside on the toast than trying to find a line further inside with a jumpy pearl ball and swinging it, depending on how severly the shot had broken down.

But if you are really talking about dry, like not oiled in 2 weeks kind of dry, go for the XXXL.  I personally use the Clear Diamond during the very rare times I see conditions like these, and it works great, but the XXXL will do what you need it to on the toast.

Of the curerct line up, the best ball for dry is H20 without a doubt!!  It is a very underrated ball.

I agree that the XXXL is good for dirt as well.  But any kind of oil will make it go straight.  It is plastic, but good choice for extreme dry

If there is a hint of oil left...Bullet.
If it's just a light or short pattern...H20 or Cobalt Pearl (H20=smooth...Cobalt=angular).

I have a Crystal with a 5 1/2 in pin drilled CG out ant I like it much better than my Bullet..Doesn't flip much it just driver right on thru the pins

Why do people keep trying to compare Lane #1 to other equipment.....when there really is no comparison

Best Prices in all of Colorado on Lane #1 equipment....
