First test tonight for BuzzBomb/R...
« on: March 08, 2009, 02:21:46 PM »
Took my new BuzzBomb/R out tonight with a new Brunswick Sidewinder and my Supernova XP to test against. I was kind of scared about this one since I can't throw either the Dirty Bomb or Hybrid Dirty Bomb very well. This is my first experience with the Doomsday core.

I'll do a longer, "official" review later but this is one nice piece. I was surprised that it's earlier and stronger than the XP. My XP is at 2000 Abralon with Storm ReactaShine polish on it. The BuzzBomb/R is factory.

The shape of the BuzzBomb/R going down the lane is kind of unique. It starts up about 5 feet before the XP, then seems to hold off a little before making a real strong drive through the pins. I was also able to jump right, flatten my hand a little and play straight up the outside with it, so versatility appears good. I was following a league on the test lanes.

Too early to call yet, but I like this one a lot so far. This is the most "Brunswick-like" of the 900Global-era Lane #1 balls I've thrown yet.

I wouldnt be surprised. the BB/R is 1000 abralon+polish so only half the starting grit is only half of your XP

Maybe its because of the Bleeder coverstock, which in reality is Superflex?

Used it tonight for the first time for a whole set, on the fresh.

First game: Front 5, ring 10 in the 6th, trying to go out for 279 (which would have been my third-highest game ever and highest in the last 5 years) when I left a blower 7-10 in the 10th. 243.

Second game: Transition started in the third frame, I didn't have the talent to see it that early, finally ended up with the Big 4 in the sixth (only spare I didn't convert) before changing hand positions a little and striking almost off the sheet for 199.

Third game: Front 4, sent it wide to watch it come screaming back for 3-4-6-7-10 (converted, with XXXL Starburst), overcorrected to leave 1-2-4-10 washout in the seventh (converted), spared out to shoot 219 for 661 series, my second- or third-highest this half.

So yes, I like it. (g)
