Seller claims that L#1 made a mistake in marking these "for display only".

I'm thinking..they didn't..

The ball has 5oz of top weight..

The balls are marked for display only because they are essentially a blem for some reason and are given to the pro shops for very little if any cost, they are not to sold or distributed and are intended for what they are marked as, DISPLAY ONLY.

There was a post 2-3 weeks ago from someone wanting drilling instructions for a ball from another manufacturer that had 7 oz top weight.  Apparently, some number of balls come out bad (too bad for a blem I guess), so they are stamped "For Display Only".  Supposedly sold very cheap to pro shops to use as displays (go figure).  There was a debate as to whether these are legal for sanctioned leagues/tournaments, but don't know if it was every answered accurately.  Anyway, other manufacturers make these as well.

That's the point.  With such odd specs, why would you bother to try?  I guess you could the CG on or near the thumb, drill an interchangeable thumb slug (big hole) extra deep with a crater weight hole very near.  But why bother?  Too many good balls out there to drill a freak just because it's cheap.

Seriously who in their right mind would pay $109 + ship for a ball with those kind of specs.. Even at $100 shipped, no way its worth taking the chance, IMO.

There are WAY better balls out there with very good specs for LESS money..

Five ounces of topweight may restrict your options, but can still be made legal pretty easily.

 Now HIGHER topweights might begin to be a problem, but since you are allowed a maximum of three ounces topweight after drilling, it shouldn't be too hard to get it there. Just drill it label and make the finger/thumb holes extra deep.  If it is still over, just add a small hole on the label until it IS legal.

got a 505c x-out with 5 oz of top a few weeks ago, double thumb layout and rolls and hits amazing with a big big hole next to the thumb

do you ppl not realize how many oz's you drill out when drilln fingers and thumb...?!?!?!??

a lil xtra top weight isnt a bad thing....(thats b4 drilling for u slloooowwww ppl)
