Title: Foray into the Dark Side
Post by: Ozzy Fudd on February 21, 2006, 03:55:13 AM
Ok guys..   I picked up a Buzzsaw Bullet for light-dry lanes.  What am I in for?  This is my 1st Lane #1 ball.

I tried the Bullet in a tournament where the lanes where dry.  The Bullet was way too strong for dry lanes without at least a light oil pattern in the heads.

YUp.

yessireee, Bob.

No doubt at all.

True for all resins - need some oil somewhere.

True burnt requires plastic.

Agree with what has been said above.

I just punched up a Bullet and an XXXL for dry lanes (both drilled Label 1:30). I tried them out on a fresh league shot and also on a pair that had not been oiled in 4 days (with LOTS of open play).
On fresh league shot (10 to 10 and REALLY dry outside 5), the Bullet could be played straight up 7 or 8, or a little swing across ten and bounce off the dry. The XXXL could also be played on the fresh shot, but you have to be comfortable setting it down on the twig!

On the fried lanes, the Bullet hooked as soon as it touched the lane. Not good! The XXXL was  better, but I still had to be firm and use a little loft. I cannot believe how strong the XXXL hits the pocket. That ball really is a dream come true on ultra dry lanes or other shots that have a really dry area on the outsides. The Bullet will be good for light conditions, but you will need some kind of oil in the heads.
