My Lane #1 arsenal
« on: November 01, 2003, 07:01:37 AM »
Alright, here's what I'm thinking. First let me tell you my style, then what I want to have and accomplish.
I am a power stroker/tweener. 16-19 mph, medium revs. I bowl on heavy to med. heavy conditions normally but want to be able to cover most conditions for tournaments. I am able to move from 5 to 25, I can vary speeds and hand.
I currently use my Black Cherry Bomb or dulled Cranberry and don't often have to move more than 2-4 boards per night. Occasionally I'll throw in my Cherry Bomb (if they've broken down a little) or my Icon300 if they are extra wet.
I really don't want to lug more than 4 balls around, so here's what I'm thinking:
I'll bring in the Super Carbide Bomb for the heavy stuff, I'll use the Black Cherry Bomb for medium to medium heavy. I'll polish my Cranberry and use it for medium and I'll pick up a XXL for lighter conditions. I think that this would be a pretty good 4-ball arsenal.
I'm only hesitating because I don't know about this new Golden Nugget. How might this fit into my 4 ball arsenal plans?
Any feedback, suggestions, ideas etc...would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Heavy - Super Carbide Bomb
Medium - Golden Nugget
Light - XXL

Mr Buzzsaw UK,
Is the Emerald really that different from a polished Cranberry? It might go a little longer (maybe) but it seems pretty similar, and strong. Also, the Golden Nugget, I am just not so sure where this fits in; is there enough of a gap between the BCB and the CB or Cranberry? This seems like a lot of balls for conditions covered by movement and speed adjustment. I don't know much about the Viper, the XXL seems awesome for the right conditions. Thanks for your input.

With Lane 1 balls like the cherry bomb and super carbide do they hit hard and have lot of pin action?  I'm looking for pretty big hook but I want the ball to hit hard too.

Any suggestions out there for a weaker drill for the Emerald? I'd like to fill the gap between my Cranberry and an XXL. The Cranberry is drilled very strong so I think a strong drill on the Emerald would be too similar. Whaddya think is best for a weaker drill?
