Chris Loschetter has used Lane 1 several times on TV.  Sadly, not too much success.

I remember Mike Haugen used a pink Buzzsaw a while back, probably 2001-2002-ish.  Hooked the whole lane, even, releasing somewhere between 35 and 40, playing 4th or 5th arrow.

I'd love to see if they can break the PBA curse of having no titles on the PBA tour and end their excuses of why it hasn't happened.

If Lane 1 were to be able to sign a top name player they would have titles on the tour. To let the truth be told the amount of money the PBA players ask for in a contract borders on obscene. Yes I know they are pro athletes but still...

Let them sign a Norm Duke or a Walter Ray, Chris Barnes or someone as such and you will see Lane 1 in the winner's circle.

Linds' house ball division would have a few PBA titles if those guys were on staff, haha.

Why shouldn't the top players demand a high dollar? All the rest of the incentive money is gone and the weekly money is weak. Do you demand a certain amount in your shop?

Understandably they should get paid but let's face it here...demanding a 6 figure contract along with complete and free access to any and all equipment they desire is a bit greedy.

Doesn't provide much incentive to actually WIN now does it? But of course no professional athlete would dare stake their yearly salary on actual performance now would they? Heaven forbid if their pay check was dependent on them actually proving they were worth the money. Hence the reason they have performance BONUSES in professional sports contracts...not performance stipulations.

If the athlete is so good they should have no problem with making $50,000 a year and then have their salary supplemented based on their performance.

But then all professional sports are this way...Does A-Rod really deserve the money he's making on a team that's not going to be in the world series? Does Favre deserve the money he's getting? C'mon people...welcome to my world...it's called reality.

So you say that L#1 can't win because it doesn't fork over enough $$? I say it's because they can't match up with what L#1 has to offer, plain and simple.

Vincente: I think it's fair to say that 'most' PBA exempt players haven't even tried Lane#1 equipment. It's hard to match up to anything you haven't experienced.

Elite had the same bad rap until Robert Smith came on-board, and then a win for the company. What a concept...

Besides, there is no concept of 'matching up' to Lane#1. Like all other manufacturers, they have different balls that react differently on varied conditions. Your general statements don't hold water here.

Inverted....you have been around bowling enough to know that all ball manufacturers pay incentives for using their products when you make the TV show.

Just a hypothetical situation...

Suppose Joe Bowler decides he wants to get serious and start bowling on tour. He knows the following facts:

Storm will pay $5,000 for using their balls on TV (again, a facetious number), Ebonite will offer $2,000 for using any of their brands, Brunswick $4,000, RotoGrip $2,000 and Lane 1 $500.

Now on top of that the companies will double that price if you WIN with their ball.

Which ball company are you going to spend more effort on trying to match up with? It's just plain economics...you go where the money is. $5,000 vs $500 is a pretty simple choice.

Rumor had it that Roto Grip paid $10,000 to each player to throw the Cell on TV that one week.

Look what it did for the sales of that ball. Was it worth it?? Probably. But if they do that again it may not fair as well.

Does anybody remember Faball???

Walter Ray won several titles with balls that were not that good when he was on staff with them in the early 2000's. With his contract and incentives he single handedly put that company out of business.

We at Lane#1 love our customer base. The league bowler. They keep us in business and that is who we focus on. It would be great to see our stuff on TV every week but in order for that to happen you have to pay ungodly salaries and incentives to the BEST bowlers on tour. The top players are already contractually locked up by other companies so that makes it tough. I beleive in our products and I know they are every bit as good and better than the balls you see on TV every week. This is my opinion and I stand by it..

Lane#1 forever.....

Agreed 100% Beans.  What about one of the new guys though?  It would give them great equipment and possibly showing off how good L1 stuff is.

Walter Ray's name wasn't the only one on the contract.  Someone at Faball had to sign it too and if they didn't do their due diligence in figuring out if they could afford to pay him, well, it's entirely reasonable that bad businessmen go out of business.

Further, every ball company thinks they're the best and they aren't going to sign someone they think is going to fare (not "fair") poorly.  They were hoping WRW would be extremely successful.  They got exactly what they asked for.  Are they gonna wish him bad luck?

Anyone that signs with Lane #1 should ask for 20% more money in their contract than the other staffers.

Don't the old faball owners own Visionary?  And if that's true, isn't that company doing well?
