A few questions about ball reaction.

I posted this in the general section too, but I thought it might go well here as well.

I am curious in answers to the following questions.

Assuming the same bowler is doing the throwing of the ball....

How much of a percentage of the reaction of a bowling ball comes from a certain aspect of the ball design?

1. The cover stock (or surface) is responsible for __________ % of the reaction.
2. The weight of the ball is responsible for ________% of the reaction.
3. The core design is responsible for ________% of the reaction.
4. The drill pattern is responsible for _______% of the reaction.

I am curious as to what kind of numbers people would ascribe to each of the
blanks above.

Hopefully i don't get raked over the coals on this one, But in my opinion coverstock would be about 15% weight block would be about 60% weight 5% and drill about 20%, weight block is the key to the flare of the ball to create ball reaction, coverstock is just apart of it, Retro

Your right you should be racked over the coals.  I don't agree with the core making up 60 percent of a balls reaction.

Lets say you take a very strong core and wrap a polyester/plastic cover around it.  Then drill it strong and throw it on a heavy long oil pattern.

Now take a weak pancake core and wrap a particle cover around it.  Then drill it with a weak pin position and throw it on the same long heavy oil pattern.

Which ball do you think is going to hook more?  The particle ball will because the cover makes up most of the balls reaction.

Chi, Thats your opionion and this is mine, How many company are placing strong cores in polyester? Nobody, Lane 1 has one with the diamond core, And what is considerd a long heavy oil pattern? 40',50'? I don't care what you throw on a 50 footer you not going to see much ball reaction unless you have Robert Smith rev rate, Its the core that creates flare not the cover, Cover adds a small percentage to flare, If not what is the percentage??
