Hey Beans,  about a month ago I posted that a customer brought in a Chainsaw that he bought for $120 shipped................

And you Beans asked what shop he got it from....cause you were questioning the price...............

As for the Core,   That was someone else bringing that up...

So get off your high horse Beans with "why bring"

You asked..............

just in case you wanted to know

now

are we clear....

And I agree with Holland... About the price increase on the sauce....

btw Beans..... Motiv sells their polish for about $10.00... And that is for a 16 oz bottle.... not a 4 oz or 8 oz....

Since your the National Sales manager.... thought you might want to know...

This comparison is ridiculous.

The reason they sell theirs for less and more of the product is because it is an inferior product.  Same reason you go to a dollar store, buy multiple of a replica of a good product.  It's half as good, if that, and thus can't be sold for the same price as the good stuff.

Motiv's polish will never even be in the same category as the Secret Sauce.  Beans mastered this long ago, evidenced by the fact that even those who hate Lane #1, use their polish because it's the best polish on the market.

I bet if I showed you 20 different cores right now from various companies you couldn't get half of them correct. I know I can't, and I keep up with this stuff better than most. Take a look at the similarity of the cores from Columbia, AMF, Ebonite, Hammer, etc. There are very few truly unique cores these days. Roto's core from the Cell, MoRich's EZ-Rev core, that's about it outside the Lane #1 family. Visionary's core from the New Breed series looks a whole lot like one of the Cobalt Bomb cores, if you sharpened the edges a bit. And that's before anyone mentions how much the Twisted Fury cores resemble the W.A.S. core from L1.

The point to make is no matter what Lane #1 comes out with, I'm sure someone will be yelling "copy! copy!" when in fact there really isn't a lot of uniqueness in the market now as it is.

Urban....  Have you tried their polish???  Or are you just making a statement
based on the fact that you think it is not as good....

In fact, have you tried the Sauce?????

Now we have tried and stock both.....

And their polish as well as their cleaners have been very well received....

Both for their performance.... as well as their price....

You do realize.... It's a tough economy out there in the real world... it was in all the papers....   and some people are very much concerned with prices...

Now I have posted several times on the quality of "the Sauce"....  However, a 4 oz bottle for $14.95....  is a little pricy.....

So your statement about comparing... makes little sense....

now

are we clear

It's more than a little pricey.

To put it in perspective, that's $478.40 per gallon. Even with the bottle factored in (32 bottles to get 1 gallon of product), I don't believe it costs anywhere near $239.20 to produce, and that's what cost would need to be for a 100% markup!

Yes JLS, you are right.  I do feel the price is a little on the steep side.  I won't disagree with ya there!  I have even told Beans directly that I think the price is high.  Obviously that doesn't change things given that Lane #1 holds the rights to the polish now.......but nonetheless I do not disagree there.

On the flip side, I have tried polishes from just about every brand out there.....including some joe bloe's polishes from time to time.....and the Secret Sauce beats them all.

Given that Bean's concauction was once a "joe bloe's polish", since her personally made it, I can honestly say, this is the best polish on the market.

People pay top dollar for things that are worth top dollar.  Some people compromise and pay less for a much inferior product.  It's just how things are.  Especially in this economy nowadays.

I meant no disrespect in my earlier post, and if it was taken that way, then my apologies.  Just pointing out a fact that the best things are usually higher priced.....

Minus cereals of course. .  Cheaper cereals are ALMOST ALWAYS BETTER than the name brand stuff.....

I think its not fair to use best in terms of polishes. Almost every polish has a different characteristic and are not intended to do the same things.

Bean's polish is nice, great to gloss anything, but I find the Ebonite and Motiv Polishes to be better bang for the buck. The Ebonite and Motiv polishes aren't water based and seem to be easier to control in my honest opinion.

Now with that said, i do keep all the polishes on hand, I just think its not fair to say X is the best or so much better than Y. Its just dumb. The Sauce is a good product but its very expensive, and from a proshop side when selling its just not worth it and customers prefer the bang for the buck in most cases especially with how things are at the moment.

Now back on topic, hopefully the new releases are something different, I am getting tired of the seemingly never ending Diamond stuff, the equipment is good but the marketing and price makes the other companies popularity much greater and its also why I see maybe 1 lane one ball in my local house.

I have to say I disagree.  Polish is meant to shine the ball and give it length down the lane.  That's it.

That being said, Bean's Secret Sauce tops them all.  Requires the least amount per use, and gives the most length out of any polish on the market.  None compare to the Sauce.

Forget the shine part.  That's the most irrelevant piece of the puzzle.

But, but, but...Jess!  The core is the thing? Right? Without the almight diamond core, it's just a (gasp!) ordinary bowling ball!!

Elite is now using it's "own" core designs and using G900 for thier covers..

So, L#1 balls are going to be the new Elite balls without the jeebus cores. What's the difference now?

The "thing" has always been core/cover combination, whether you're talking about Lane #1 or whoever.

However, there is a place for unique cores, like the Diamond or MoRich's cores over the years, because for people who match up well to them, they really match up well. That's why it's not BS when someone says "Lane #1 balls made my average go up 20 pins." It's completely possible for that to happen. And it's also possible for some people that they'll drop.

I've never thought this company matched up to a wide range of bowlers. Back when I was a speed-dominant, lower-rev player, it was hard for me to get a good look from Lane #1. I spent 12 years in the Storm camp because their stuff matched my game. As I started to work on dropping speed and picking up revs, a lot of the Storm balls I used to like got to be too touchy at the breakpoint.

Unfortunately, this problem is now starting to crop up in some of my Lane #1 gear since the Columbia/900Global transition. And to show that it's about combinations rather than just the core, I am killing with a 900Global Break S75 right now.

Opening up the core design at Lane #1 gives them a chance to attract a wider range of bowlers to the product. They should always pour stuff with Diamonds and Bombs, but they need to branch out from there a little.

In regard to prices on Polish or Balls or whatever, every manufacturer/supplier/seller, etc has a right to sell an item for what ever they want to sell that item for, so it is what it is. For those of you whinning here and btw are also the same people that always whine in this forum, if you don't like it, you don't have to buy it. All of your constant whinning, crying, and etc isn't going to change anything, so get a life and move on.

Urban,   you're a class act.... no problem.... I have posted many times about the quality of "the Sauce"....  Yes it is a little pricy.... But I forgot to mention it is a concentrate... So one only needs to use a few drops at a time...

However it is hard to convince customers of this... Those who have tried it, love the product....

However again,  I have several who do use the "sauce" try Motiv polish.... And they rave about it.....

In these tough times.... A 4 oz bottle for $14.95 or a 16 oz bottle at about $10.95-$12.95.....

Urban,   you have a great day....
