Help with shark pattern on WOOD
« on: June 27, 2009, 05:02:04 AM »
Just wondering if anyone has any experience of bowling the shark pattern ON WOOD (please no synthetic or overlaid lanes, just wood) 1)What surface on your ball worked best for you. 2) what line worked for you (stroker or cranker) 3) how should i expect the oil to break down through 4 games.... I can throw with different releases with above avg revs.... I have a Buzzbomb, BCB, Dynamo, Super Carbide bomb(2"pin under ring label), Army Green Carbide Bomb, Agent Orange(3" pin beside ring stacked), Supernova(4"pin beside ring stacked), Black and Pink Raspberry.... The rest are drilled Pin above ring Stacked.... I would prefer to throw the PINK or ARMY GREEN.... thanks for any advice you may have....

The lanes will change very fast!!  I went from playing the gutter to deep inside 25-11 in the same game switching from my 2nd to a Virtual Gravity drilled 4X4 with a 1.5" pin buffer.  You have to chase it and make the big move fast.  Some times playing around and trying what worked 3 shots ago is going to keep you out of cashing.  Small moves are good when they work but if you get in trouble follow your gut and make the "big" move.

Ok guys, just got back from league... and you guys were right on... I went 182, 143, 203, 215... won 3 out of 4, quite sure you can guess which game i lost dude shot a 239 anyways(wouldn't you know it dude shoots 130 something 2 games later, lol!)  Threw the Pink Raspberry (wet sanded with green scotchbrite pad and drilled stacked) 1st game and 5 frames second game and had to put it up cause it was reading to much like you said.  Actually it was reading to much by the 8th frame of 2nd game.  so i experimented with couple of balls in 2nd games... Super Carbide Bomb (it's a beast) 2" pin under label, broke the cuff in my wrist, index finger wide and came up the back with a little bit of tilt, played up 12 and it was money(in the pocket or brooklyn) Wood lanes are weird, never thought there would be that much backend  If my timing were better tonight i would have played out to 5, but had to adjust to what my body was letting me do and take the split out of play... thanks again!

I usually come by and bowl on the backup lane on tuesday morning. Since no one bowled on them there is usually tons of oil on them.
