On top of me not matching up particularly well with the Bomb cores (which the core in the Massacre mimics), throw in the coverstock on this ball and it sounds like an angular animal.
There is controllable angular, and then there is uncontrollable angular. How likely is this ball to have an inconsistent breakpoint, etc.?
I'm changing jobs within the next month and money is about to be tighter than it's ever been for me, so I have to get more discriminating with my ball purchases. I don't want to buy a Massacre and not be able to use it -- or have it mimic something I already own.

I've found it to be a controllable angular ball, unlike the dirty bomb, this balls find itself somewhat before it starts to make it's wicked turn.... More Backend continuation than my AO (AO has more midlane read for me), a different look than the BB/R, can't compare to my XP cause it's rico'd nor can i compare it to my Cobalt pearl cause it's pin under cg out.... if you've thrown the silver diamond, then that's what it's similar to, at least for me....
My CM is stacked over the outside of the ring, no x hole...

Why even ask? It's not like you're going to get an answer from the Sawheads that says something negative about it...
out of respect for you on an individual basis i am going to leave this alone
but if you don't have any relevant topic related responses, then why say anything at all except to start crap ?

ok, lets just say its more controllable than the dynamo, the dynamo needs 5 more boards to work......

bowlerdawg: Measured and controlled responses on your part. Very nice. The trolling had subsided for a while, but you knew it was just a matter of time before they crawled out of the cracks again.
I though you were going to go for the jugular. Impressive restraint.

AK47 summed it up pretty well. A guy I bowl with uses one. The backend is quite spectacular, but a smooth-angular type of motion (if that makes sense). I've only thrown it for a total of about 2 games, and I honestly couldn't get the ball to 'over-react' even when I tried to get up on it. Only once did it come back too aggressive, but I tried playing outside with the same hit as I was mentioning before. I believe his was still OOB when I was throwing it.

for the record
not every saw head loves their massacre
i have read complaints, and that it is not the second coming of Jesus
however
i have heard far more positive reviews, than negative
as for the control factor
this balls nature is very angular, and add that w/ a pearl cover
then you have the possibility of an uncontrollable ball, but
there are so many other related factors involved that its not even funny.
So much depends on your style, release, lane conditions, and drilling pattern.
if used correctly this ball can be controlled

Want more control???
Kick CG out further. Knock the surface shine down a shade or drill your extra holes 3" deep on your PAP...
If you don't want as angular of a ball. Shine the Dynamo like a mirror with the Secret Sauce and you have your ball.

Jess,
I am not a sawhead, the Massacre is the first Lane 1 ball that I have owned, I have only had the ball for a week but have thrown it a total of 6 games. I will agree that it is an angular ball but I have found it to be controllable on the conditions I have thrown it on to this point. I am going to start a scratch league next week and plan on this ball being in my arsenal. If you are not in a hurry to buy I would give you more feedback after the first couple weeks of league.

Thanks for all the responses. It is going to be awhile before I get around to buying a Massacre, so I have some time to read reviews and such.
I have a Supernova XP shined up at 2000 right now that is pretty angular. But it is fairly controllable and predictable for such an angular ball. I was hoping the Massacre would be more like that (except waiting further down the lane to make its move). My XP sometimes moves too soon.

I've been test-driving a polished Dynamo drilled for length the last few days. The ball will handle fresh THS down to light oil with no problems--and great pin carry!
And this is from a bowler who is not a Lane 31 diehard.

Well if mine is any indication, kick the cg out and it will tame it down a lot, mine will not "snap" for anything.

Me and user TBrockette had the same problem with the 2 we drilled up. WE were both expecting more ball than we got. Both of ours were drilled pin to the right of the ring with the cg pretty much stacked under. Not saying its a "bad" ball, we just both expected it to be stronger and to handle more oil.

Storm ain't so bad either!! LOL

I am not saying it is a bad ball either, I just have not found it to be "snappy" at all, for me it is a good "archy" med/light to light oil ball. Now my new Golden Nugget is a different story, goes long and "SNAP".

Jess I told you that I would give you more feedback after I had time to throw the Massacre during league. I have thrown this on both a THS and on the Cheetah pattern. I had my best success on Cheetah pattern starting at the 5 board and staying behind the ball and migrating into to the 10 board. I found the control to be good, I had an occasional shot get away from me when I would get around the side of the ball. As long as I did not try to get to much hand in the ball it made a nice move to the pocket. I actually shot a clean 227 on the Cheetah with it the best game of the 12 that I have shot on this pattern. I am very impressed with it as a ball and am looking forward to using it on other patterns. Good luck with your decision.

Well I guess I have finally found the right surface to get this ball to snap some, I sanded it down to 360ab, then hit it with Resurrection, then Snakeoil using medium pressure. I tried several different grits and polish combinations before coming up with this one. The ball is controllable and has that snap others have experienced. I have been told by several of the guys that I bowl with that it took several games before it "came to life", maybe I was just too impatient with it early on. I would say it is stronger on the backend than my Dirtybomb with all things being equal. I hope this helps a little.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll probably snag one sometime later this summer.
