The guys in Syracuse have asked me to gather some feedback for them on their most recent release.
So what do you all think?
Personally I think the Cobalt has to be one of the best balls I have thrown in recent memory. The ball is so smooth for me through the heads and midlane and then revs hard on the back. The carry on this ball is incredible as well.
Any other experiences anyone would like to share?

What I have found is that when my Tsunami starts leaving corner pins I can pull out the Cobalt and throw the same line and it gets deeper with a sharper angle of entry and the carry is spectacular. On a fresh shot I can throw down and in and it really jumps off a dry backend but this ball really shines around the third game.

Well it depends on the drilling of course luckily I had Doug drill mine..
This ball rolls VERY smoothly reading the lanes as it goes then it turns very hard on the backend.
It keeps the pins very low when it crushes the pocket sending pins flying across the decks. It also carried light hits very well.
I am VERY pleased with it, another winner and a must have from the boys @ Lane #1....

Doug, having just got it from you and finally threw it for 5 frames last night when the Hybrid Dirty Bomb became too much, it's strike percentage is 100% thus far. I used it on the second shift late league and pulled it out and flushed the final 6 frames on 4 intentionally different lines. This ball seems great but will give it more feedback later. However, thanks for everything Doug.

Have won 2 local city tournaments, shot 2 279's, 290, and have had 3 sets over 750 with my Cobalts already. (really havent thrown them much) so pretty good ratio when I do. Won plenty of cash with them too.
We have drilled over 20 in house already , I would say that its a winner.
Been selling this ball better than The One which is really saying something.
Its stronger than the rating numbers on L1's website show.
You want to know some more technical stuff about this ball message me , got a line of balls that need holes in them, will try to leave some more feedback at a later date.

Currently I have to put this ball in the category of the Enriched and The One. I don't like it at all. But I will continue to work with the ball.
Second time out (I know, only the second time) but at a different house and different lane conditions (Senior morning shot) shorter oil. I took my polished Solid Uranium (polished with Ebonites factory polish) drilled very closely to the Cobalt and the Solid Uranium polished totaly out performed the Cobalt. First time out I tried it on a longer oil pattern with dry 8 and out so it played bumper fairly well, but on this condition my Solid Uranium box condition out performed the Cobalt.
I don't know why Lane 1 is trying to corner the market on skid flip (OK if not flip, extreme hard reaction off the break point). The polished Solid Uranium got through the heads just as easy found the break point and crushed the pocket but had a much less violent reaction off the break point.
The H2O out performed the Cobalt. Longer and stronger then the polished Solid Uranium but carry was much better and the H2O read the break point much better then the Cobalt though drilled differently.
The old purple Pearl carbide Bomb out performed the Cobalt and its particle.
I know the ball specs are different, different core designs, different RG and coverstock, but me personally: I am not looking for a back end hook monster that is unpredictable.
Cobalt drilled with pin 1/2 about and 1/2 inch to the right od the ring finger CG stacked. This is a pin that is about 3 3/8 from my pap.
But to be fair, that is only my second time out with the Cobalt, but I don't see it replacing the Tsunami (2) or H2O in my bag. It might make it to the bag with the Enriched as a practice ball because it makes me work on my speed, hitting my mark and release consistency. Just not a go to ball for any condition IMHO.
Thanks for asking.

Just got my today I bowled 2 games on last nights left over shot 233 & 278 with 11 in a row between the two games. I cant wait for league tonight. My only problem now is I have the Tsunami high 770, Enriched high 812, Megaton high 773 and now the Cobalt all could be first out of the bag.

There is something about the coverstock blend that is special! I love the Solid cover on the Tsunami, and the Pearl cover on the Cobalt. To my understanding, these are the same blend, just one is pearlized. It is beautiful to watch the smoothing of the breakpoint, which lends itself to predictability with either ball.
I think we might have in the Cobalt a complete anomaly: a backend hook monster that is predictable! Is it possible? Such has been my experience so far, though limited as it may be.
Also, the core is a winner in my book. This ball gives a different look than anything I have seen, and is stronger than the pearl Cherry Bomb on the backend. Pretty impressive.

I love mine had it for for about a week now and my first set with was mid 600's but I got for my money league shot on sunday morning and let's just say not only did i bowl 750 but later on that day during pot bowling it paid for itself btw mine is laid out very similar to the one Chris Loschetter was using this past sunday.

I drilled mine 5x5 stacked and it is AWESOME only when I have my release and speed dialed in. If you miss with either one, there is no forgiveness. I have shot a 268 and a 256 with my Cobalt, but I have also shot a 167 and a 181 due to splits and washouts (not stupid easy spares missed). To be fair, it was my fault since it came out of my hand, but I know for a fact that my H2O is more forgiving and hits just as well. I will work with the Cobalt some more before calling it quits though. I agree with others in that it is much stronger than advertised. One last note...this ball is GORGEOUS. By far my favorite in the looks department.

I will be reviewing this in more detail later, BUT I LOOOOOOVE it. It is deceptively stronger than anyone advertised. Someone once tolde me that this ball was NOT like a Cherry Bomb on Steroids, BUT that too is off the mark. This ball is so on the juice that it is not funny, even with my speed.

How Do You Like Your Cobalt?
I would like it a whole lot more if I had it back from my driller..
I could have really used it tonight. I bowled a 647 with my Tsunami put the lanes were to dry for even my Tsunami, with the semi Pin Axis I plan on drilling my Cobalt with I hope it will fit in under my Tsunami.

Doug I kept telling everyone they were under estamating the strength of this ball I finally got mine and had it drilled up rolled four games with it in practice on dry lanes and with the layout I chose to put on it there is no way you can use it on dry lanes I had a really hard time getting a good read on it because it was burning up had no hit left once it hit the pocket so when I took it out in league I was really unsure where to play the lanes took me about three shots in league practice to figure it out ended up shooting a nice 713 with games of 212,256,and 245 I absolutely love this ball as long as there is some kind of oil but if you pull it you are going to pay a penalty now some of you I know are thinking a 713 is not much but you have to understand that the house I bowl in in the past 25 years there has been no 300s shot and in that same 25 years there has been only 3 santioned 800s and only about 15 700s and now I have the 16th 700 yes I love this ball

Thanks for the input Don.....it seems to me that you are one of the few people who gets to bowl in a house who has refused to kowtow to the "soften the shot so they can score big" mentality!
I used to bowl in a house down in Danville, PA called Midway Lanes that was like that. 3 sanctioned 800's in the span of 40 years and exactly 13 300 games at the time. 700's were posted on the board for all to see and revere as there were only about 20-25 of them per season as well.
Man I miss the old days.

It's not too often anymore that someone would say great bowling to a low 7oo series, but with those apparent house conditions that is very good. I think congrats should always be based on lane condition & frequency of high scores in any given house. Good bowling!

Just to add onto my reply also in the house I bowl in there is only three bowlers in that house that carry a 200 average the highest being at 205 yes it is a tuff house but its a fair house everyone plays on the same shot

Well, just got back from league. This ball is definately a keeper. I had a few hiccups but loved the look this ball gave me. Clean thru the heads and mids with a nice back end snap, not at all jumpy (unless your like me and get too slow with it). Balls specs were 15lbs. 2-3" pin 3.7 oz. of top weight. Drilled 3 3/8 stacked. Had 209-220-215 with it. Ball throws the pins around too. It's alot stronger than I thought but it let me open up the lanes really nice. Ohh yeah and it's so darn pretty too. Everyone within ear and eye shot tonight asked me what it was. No one in my area throws anything other than big B, Storm, and Track. I felt I had the look to really do damage but got a little slow with it and I was punished.

I love the Cobalt, has great recovery on the backend and hits hard. Haven't practiced with it yet, but shot 665 and 597 for a tournament and league. I'm still trying to figure out what's the best way I want to get this ball to the breakpoint.
My Pearl Uranium holds the midlane a little better as it should, but the Cobalt's drive to the pocket is quite better. I've noticed that I'm leaving fewer ten pins with this ball as well.
