Flares close to 6" for me... and I don't really have that much hand either.

I've had 2 TPC Players that are listed at .068 diff in 15#s and neither of those compared to my BCB.  The way my BCB is laid out the initial flare rings have close to the maximum amount (3/8") of flare separation between them.  The layout difference between the Players and the BCB is certainly a deciding factor in that as I don't recall the Players having that much flare ring separation.  The Players also had pins in the 1"-2" range, which should have kept them smoother in comparison to ones with a 3"-4" pin out range.

For myself, I've found that keeping the BCB at 2000 abralon makes it an excellent benchmark ball for me.  On every lane condition other than the extremes I can make small adjustments and keep the ball in the pocket, but most realize that putting a ball in the 1-3 pocket won't always carry.

I loved mine.
I don't have one to use any more, since mine is 15# and I now use 14.

I'll add more support. The ball picked up in the mid but still offered one heck of a strong backend. I used mine both polished and in box surface, and the ball was very good both ways. It works well on some carrydown as well. If you have the chance to pick one up, I think you should take it.

Can anyone compare the Black Cherry Bomb to the Solid Cobalt Bomb?

It would be a poor comparison of an apple to an orange, heck even the inside of an apple isn't similar to that of an orange.

J Mac, why even bother to post when you have nothing useful to offer?

I'll re-phrase the question.......

"Can anyone tell me the differences between the Black Cherry Bomb and the Solid Cobalt Bomb"?

I love my BCB.

Mine is drilled Label 1:30, and like someone above mentioned, it flares like mad (I do not have much hand either). I have used it successfully on both a heavy-ish THS, and a long sport shot. It reads the mids very nicely, yet saves quite a bit of pop for the backends.

My BCB is stronger than my Solid Cobalt by a good margin. The BCB also seems to have more backend.

Uh, Megamav, nobody claimed that the BCB is the only bowling ball ever made that flares.  They just said it flares a lot even if you don't have much hand.  It's not crazy to say a really high flare ball will flare more than something with a diff of .025 or whatever.

nor did I imply that.

but what was implied was this...

and this...

amount of "hand" has little to do with flare on a ball, if you're going to skate the ball and not allow it to roll, thats one exception, but in general the ball will always flare the same way, thrown flat or with rotation put on by the bowler. If you drill it in a leverage manner, then it will always flare at its widest margin. You can have a "ton of hand" and have the ball drilled with the pin on PAP or track, it will still flare at a minimum.
