Need help drilling up a Silver diamond
« on: December 16, 2003, 06:58:05 AM »
If someone could please give me some advice on drilling up my silver diamond I would appreciate it!

I like to stand at 25 and throw between the 2nd and 3rd arrow. My break point is around the 7th board. My ball speed is 18 - 18.5 mph with about 250 revs. I have been struggling this season at two houses that use wood lanes. Any ball that gets outside ten hooks too much for me. This forces me to play deep inside which I can do but its not my preferred line.

I was thinking maybe drilling this ball pin axis but I'm not sure how well that would carry the pocket. I've seen other balls drill pin axis and it seemed feast or famine. I really want the ball to drive the pocket to carry the corners. I even thought about putting the pin half way between the ring finger and axis. Not sure what that would do?

I also thought about a 5 X 5 layout but I track high and was concerned about flaring over my thumb hole. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback Ragnar. Isn't that a CG axis layout?

I'm curious about this layout rags. I have a Massive Impact that I tried sort of the reverse of that on. It hasn't worked out. I was looking at the ball last night, since it has been previously drilled lefty, your diagram is actually exactly what I'd have to go with to keep plugs out of the track. What is this supposed to do? Any drillers, chime in if you like.

Ragnar,

After seeing your layout it looks more like a CG leverage drill to me. I'll have to see how long the pin is on the ball. Should come in today. Do you bowl on a light to medium oil pattern with this ball? Thanks.

JC,

Mine is  5 1/2 x 4 1/2, pin above the bridge, and CG kicked right, slightly past ring.  No weight hole was needed, and this ball goes long ans snaps on the back.  It would be easier to give you more info, IF you would enter a profile as to you style, revs, and speed etc...
