Where's the famous diamond core balls??
« on: February 22, 2005, 12:08:03 AM »
Why are the Uraniums and the discontinued, but still-on-the-website Golden Nugget the ONLY balls with the diamond core??
(No, the Bullet doesn't have one, and the XXXL is of too limited a use for it to be any significance when we're talking about everyday balls.)

The Bomb core is just a way to get tons of RG differential into a ball which is the anti-thesis of the original Lane#1 philosophy. I do not see anything close to a diamond there.

What happened here? When did Lane#1 become just another, but too expensive bowling ball company?

Wells: Thanks for the reply -- I understand what you're saying, and I think we largely agree. As you referenced, "its almost like we're saying the same thing but somehow differently".

T-GOD, wait your turn, I was speaking to Steven.  I have many years left to deal with you :0  And oh, I dunno who cares about how much a ball hooks, probably just 95 percent of the actual clientel who walk into a pro-shop.  We'll deal on another level with those last 5 percent who will take their game to a "higher level".

Like I said in my response to Steven...

they are 2 different aspects totally, and equally important...

aggressiveness of the ball to the lane, and the shape of the hook.......

So, I see almost everyone agrees that the unique diamond cores did give the Brunswick coverstocks enough of a basic difference (although surface and drillings can make balls look very alike) in their ball path appearance, that it is worthwhile having Lane#1 bring them back. Of course, I mean the true diamond cores, not these mutations with pieces added and pieces chopped off to make them emulate everyone else's cores.

charlest: Mutations? LOL.

The most severe "mutation" I've thrown is the SCB. It still retains the personality of the pure diamond core. I suspect the more extreme chop jobs (i.e. Dirty Bomb) also do the same (all be it to a lesser degree). It may be splitting hairs, but even the mutations are 'diamond' enough to feel the difference if you're into the Lane#1 thing.

I think you've motivated me to give the Hybrid a try.

Indeed, triggerman, I agree.

My Black Chery Bomb hooked more like what I expect a Storm ball to do, not a Brunswick, no less a Lane#1 ball. And that was with a generic drilling and several surface modifications. I expected a Danger Zone variations (or mutation), instead I got a SHock Trauma or Deuce variation. Shame, Lane#1.

Bring back the Berries and the Silver Diamond and Pro Purple Diamond!!
