I usually have pins that are 2-3", but recently came into an old Pearl Carbide C2, outstanding condition, with what looks like a 4-5" pin. Current layout has the in approx 1:30, about 2-3 from ring, and the CG/Diamond near the thumb, stacked,inline under the pin.

What I want this for is to use between my SCB and Pear Uranium, for say medium to oily. I want early lane read, with good back end finish. Keep in mind my profile (which you can view), with special attention to ball speed. I was thinking of just moving the fingers, which would put the pin a bit closer to ring, in the same position.

Any comments will be appreciated, and of course I will run this by Doug Sterner when able, in case he does not read this thread.

4-5" might not read the lane as quick as you want it

my suggestion is to put the pin above your fingers and have the CG in your span ... I believe it is called 5x5 drill

I have one of the Solid Uranium drilled like that .. nice length with awesome flip at the backend ..

hopefully others will provide other suggestions so you can have more 1 choice

Thanks GTX, I will run that by Doug and Chuck. Do you think that this will give the Pearl Carbide good backend on medium to oily conditions?

Anyone else have suggestions? Look at my profile for any specs information you may need. Also, I track high as well.

Long pins push.....so the 4-5" combined with your speed will cut the hook potential of the ball. The ball with the current drill will most likely fall in line with the Golden Nugget you used to have.

The shine has been knocked of, as it appears to have been sanded (ball has not shine at all). I believe it was resurfaced or sanded to remove any scrathecs or track, as there is not a mark on the ball. It still is a particle ball, so should (in dull condition) handle some oil. Thanks for all the input thus far, and I am taking all replies seriously.

if you are talking about using the same drill I mentioned (pin over the fingers and CG in your span) for the carbide, it is tricky question

pin over the finger line, techniquelly, will give you skid.
but because the CG is lined up stright under the pin, that will give you a nice hook or even flip/snap

The carbide is made for heavy oil, so I assume this drill will give the ball extra length, but be aware that its hook/snap might give you a hard time if you're not used to it.

My style is always a swing shot, even in the heavy oil, so this drill works for me always.

my opinion,if you are asking me, go for it.

Thanks tonx. Do you think it will overlap my Pearl Uranium, if so, then maybe I would want to try a extreme layout, although 4x4 is a favorite of mine. Thanks for you words of power player, they do mean something to me.

I have no idea what the old Pearl Carbide C2 is suppose to do. If the ball is made to handle meduim to heavy oil, then more likely it will overlap the Pearl Uranium; but then we have to see how the Pearl Uranium is drilled.

Thanks to everyone, by the way, Pearl Uranium is pin above ring line, at approx. 1:30 (approx. 1" away from finger hole), with the CG kicked approx. 3" right of grip center. Thanks TM, and by the way would you recommend I put some shine back on the ball as well. I may just keep the layout, or what if I drilled it similar to the PU layout?
