Hybrid Dirty Bomb drilling question..
« on: February 07, 2005, 01:50:22 PM »
All,

I am getting ready to get one of these balls drilled up Tuesday evening and wanted to know how some of you guys/girls have them drilled.. I normally drill my stuff with pin above or beside the ring with the cg out and no weight hole. Would this be a strong drill for this ball? Anyone have this type drilling on their HDB?

Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated..

Jim thats exactly how mine is drilled in fact I drilled both my pearl and hybrid dirtys the same way and I am in love with them both.  I never drilled my saws like this before I usually went label 1:30 and stacked or something with a weight hole.  Both of mine are pin above ring and cg kicked out about one inch no hole.  I used 3to4 pin out balls.

These both roll incredible, they are the smoothest balls lane#1 has ever made in my mind.  Controlled power is what I like to call them.  Both have great continuation down lane even the hybrid I was surpired how much it moved and never rolled out on me.  I dropped my speed and moved inside during league when I first got the ball just to see what it would do and it just kept going.  Also on the same pattern the hybrid is a number of boards stronger than the pearl dirty.

To me personally the hybrid is right bove the black cherry in total hook yet it is so much smoother and its right below the solid uranium.

5 x 4 pin over ring finger cg midline area ball retains energy this way and has great hit and is very useable entire set this way. I have a pin under ring finger dirty bomb also ball is very over under and the wet/dry pattern i normally use it on. It works much better at other houses where you can belly it off a blended pattern much better reaction and carry. YOu should like the hybrid and find it a very good ball for most shots with factory surface and a drilling that retains energy. Ball has backend built into it already so it should be a ball you can move left with and send it out and back.

I have had the opportunity to drill a few now and can say that the ball is very driller friendly and you should be able to put any style drilling on it you want and then tweak the cover to get just that exact reaction you are looking for.

Mine is drilled 5x4 with pin over ring. Very controlled and even arc to the pocket with a strong continuous backend.

A buddy had me drill his 4-1/2 x 4 with pin under ring and cg out a hair. He is getting a stronger, earlier roll than mine and it's a stronger backend as well.

A third I have a report on was drilled closer to a stacked drill of like 4x4 and that ball hooks a lot...but still is not a super snappy ball.

Hope I helped.

I had a chance to throw this ball for a couple of games today and all I can say is one work SMOOTH!!

I have had several lane #1 balls and this one by far rolls the best for me. It just doesn't stop. It rolls and rolls and rolls..

They had just oiled the lanes and I started off playing 15 out to 10 and lofting the ball with some speed and the ball set up and smash 10 in the pit. I then moved my feet left 5 boards, slowed the ball down a bit and played about 20 out to 5 and the ball came back and struck again flush in the pocket.. I tried a couple of other lines and they all worked great. I cannot believe how versatile this ball is for me..

I look forward to seeing how it does on my league night and in my traveling league.. This looks to be the first ball out of my bag now..

Great job Lane #1, another winner in my book!!
