SCB Drilling?
« on: January 26, 2005, 11:00:38 AM »
I've decided on a SCB, and thus, am lookin for suggestions as for a drilling.

I'm a slow-medium speed player, medium revs.  I bought the SCB to use for heavier patterns and to throw during my HS league.  Almost 90% of the bowlers for the HS league are throwing in the track, and thus, I'm looking to stay away from that and play a bit deeper.  My C300 Wicked just doesn't turn enough to play a bit in the oil. I'm bowling on a  Standard House Shot.  Any suggestions?  Drill it strong as possible, or will that even be too strong for a THS?

If you have slow to medium speed and its a house shot the SCB will hook in your backswing.  I suggest either a Black cherry, Solid Uranium or the New Hybrid all of these will handle the oil you want to play in.  Drill them label 1:30 pin above ring and to the right and cg in your palm you want be disapointed. If your hearts set on the SCB put the pin above your ring and to the right stack the cg beneath it and you will definitely have to polish it.  Get yourself at least a 3 inch pin on any of these choices a 4 inch if you can.

I just picked up a used SCB.  I'm going to try it on a heavy oiled (for 37 feet, buffed to 42) shot with super dry backends.  I want something I can get really deep with that will recover and carry the corners.  On the advice of a well respected board member I'm drilling it with the pin below and between the fingers, CG out an inch.  Should roll up early in the oil and (hopefully) have good continuation on the back - we'll see.
