Buzzsaw, from Beans.
Anyone, roll one, what was your impression of the ball?

TIA.

Mine was defective/mis-marked.
It rolled over the fingers with two different drillings that I have had absolutely no trouble with on other balls. The bowtie (flare ring intersection) was way below where it should have been on both layouts. That ball was the biggest disappointment I had in all of the Lane #1 balls I owned. The Tsunami was a close second

Jon,
Hopefully, my ball will be A-1+...

Haven't rolled a Lane 1 since a Silver Diamond, when they first came out.
I'm going up in weight 2#...couldn't stand leaving flush 5 pins.

Nobody matches up with every ball, so some people love'm some hate'm...

A few months back Brunswick dumped all of Lane#1's stuff they had laying around, and allot of these balls had issues like Nova stated.

Personally the C+ is one of favorites and remains in my bag every week...

There were bad batches of BOTH the C+ and the Tsunami. Ask Lane #1. They will be happy to tell you that it is true and it was Brunswick's fault
I stand by my statement. My C+ was mismarked, and my Tsunami had a coverstock issue. I fully understand that there were plenty of people who had both of these balls, had no issues with them, and call them two of their favorite balls (often first out of the bag). That's great...I'm happy they got their money's worth. I was not so lucky. I have owned all but a couple of Lane #1's products, and most of them performed to my expectations. My C+ and Tsunami were both defects.

Duke, I sincerely hope you got a good one!

Nova, you are correct that there were bad batches of Carbide +'s and others as well. And yes, Brunswick was to blame. In any case, any balls that were not performing because of a defect in manufacturing were always replaced with a new one.

I sure hope you sent yours in for replacement..? If you still have it, I'm sure Lane #1 will take it back and swap you for something new. =:^D

T-God,
Thanks for backing me up.

As for replacement, I sold the Tsunami before I heard about others having problems with them. I had another Tsunami that worked fine.

As for the C+, I drilled it up and noticed the unusual location of the bowtie. I contacted Lane #1, and they offered to replace the ball at no cost. Me, not wanting to be proven a fool over a bad layout, decided to plug and redrill with a completely different layout (and a higher pin position). To my dismay, the same problem existed, and the ball did not roll any better. I never did send the ball in. I had so many other balls to throw at the time that worked very well. I kept that ball for a few months, then gave it away.

Lane #1 customer service was always very good to me. I never had any issues getting questions answered, and they did replace a Cobalt Pearl that cracked on me.

Maybe you should apologize to Nova, as HE KNOWS what he is talking about and you are the one who has no clue. There was a few bad batches of balls made by Brunswick for Lane 1 as pins were filled in and 2nd fake pins were drilled into the ball by the old Brunswick plant. Heck, even BrunsNic admitted to this and had pics of Uraniums he drilled where the cores were way off. Some were cut in half to show there were 2 pins, the real one, and the fake one drilled into the ball after production. Why? Lots of short pins off the line, Lane 1 did not want short pins, one guy on the Brunswick line decided himself, with no direction from corporate, to drill a 2nd fake pin into the ball and drill out the first pin so there were less blems or less balls that had to be thrown away or whatever happens when they come off bad.

3835,

Now I'm a little concerned.

Beans told me his inventory sheet, had 0-1" & 1-2" pins listed.
He would sned the longest pin he had.

I hope these aren't 2nds.
I bought the ball for a great price ($119.00 shipped).
Hopefully, Lane 1 would warranty the ball, even though it was bought on-line.

Sorry for the hijack, but was was the defect with some of the Tsunami's?  I like mine a bunch, but the cover was much weaker than what most people describe.  I bought a new one as a back up some time ago (from Beans via eBay) and wonder if one or both might have an issue.  Can you tell anything from the serial number?  I'd hate to have one sitting around for several years, finally drill it up, and find out it's a dud.

I really do not know if you can tell by the serial number or not. I do know it was more than one ball, as Nick's balls were the silver Uranium ball and the Carbide+ was affected as well, maybe others. One thing I CAN say is Lane 1, even though I have only drilled maybe 5 of their balls for myself, always gives great customer service and when this issue was found out, they did warranty the products and bit the bullet for something that was not their fault. Problem is, when you do not manufacturer your own stuff, you are at the mercy of others, such as Lane 1, MoRich, Banger, InSite, etc.

Duke,

Don't know if you could have abad one, however, I do know the problem was drilling out short pins and making them longer, such as 2-3 and 3-4 instead of what should have been a 0-1 or a short 1-2. If you ordered a short pin, I do not think you will have an issue as they redrilled the short stuff tomake longer pins, thus why when Nick drilled into the Uraniums he hit a different part of the ball than what was expected due to the fake pin.

3835,
Thanks...Now I understand better. If the pin is short (which isn't important to me), that isn't the problem....it's the false pin position.

Well with the amount of balls I have drilled along with selling online. I think the problem lies with miss marked balls. Ball that were actually 1-2 pins were purposely marked as 3-4's. I have never hade the problems with any short pin balls. It was always the 3-4 pin balls that I had flare problems with. As T-God stated I sent all the balls back for replacement everytime. Richie even called me about the Solid Uraniums back then.

Duke,
Ball will be shipped on Friday as it was packed tonight. 1-2" pin. I have drilled about 6 out of this batch with no problems. No worries...
