Black Cherry Bomb
« on: January 16, 2004, 07:41:00 AM »
I've read the story from Mr. Buzzsaw regarding the 2 fat guys doing the polishing in Brunswick's factory.
True or not, I'd like to take down just a little bit of the surface on my BCB. However, since I (and Lane #1) don't know exactly what that finish is, I don't know exactly where to start.
It still has the factory finish and I want to take it down just a bit, just to get it reacting a bit sooner. Where should I start, 1200? Any help would be appreciated, especially from t-god or charlest.
Thanks.

Thanks Mr. Buzzsaw!
That's what I'll try, 800 and then lightly polished.
Thanks again!

800 with a light polish will probably give you the factory finish or close to it.

I would start with a 1000 grit wet sand, which will dull the surface and give you a little smoother break and pick up the roll slightly earlier in the oil.

If that is not enough, try a 600-800 grit wet sand, and maybe an application of Neo-Tack hook it to soften the cover.

Personally, I feel you will get the best results from either an 800 grit or 1000 grit wetsand, with no polish.

The factory finish of the BCB is roughly 800 grit paper with a very light buff.
