Title: I want the Black Panther Pro Edition
Post by: BeansProShop on November 30, 2010, 08:00:22 AM
Make the exact ball as the Pink but make it Black..

I have lost potential sales of this ball due to men not wanting pink..

I have to agree. I always said the color of the ball didn't matter, but then I found there was an exception. Pretty big marketing mistake seems to me.

If the "men" thought about it, the pink color can actually be an advantage. I find when I use my Pink Panther in league, bowlers tend to focus more on my shots than their own bowling.

It definitely doesn't hurt.

Ahh, you're being modest....

To really bring the effect home, I bought a matching pink shirt I wear when I know I'm going to throw it. I'm not a big fan of the color pink, but it's fun getting reactions.

Everyone takes it in good fun.

You just need the pink shoelaces and you're all set!

I love the PINK and the reaction it gets when it destroys the pocket. I'm kinda hoping Lane 1 design a bright yellow (BIG BIRD).
The other night in league I took my Big Curve, Pink Panther my marble polished Tsunami put them on the ball return....they focused so much on my arsenal and how I used it, they never got into the match.

I can see Bean's point, cause I'm sure there are men who won’t use a PINK ball...  But I have to be honest I don't remember a ball in recent history that I have had so many people asking about it.

I love my Pink Panther and it rolls great.. I have sold some and have interest BECAUSE it is pink but I have had a few Lane#1 fans that passed on it because it was pink..

My idea is the Pro Edition or Tournament Edition....

Black Panther.....
Dark grey Engraving so there is NO color rotating on the ball. The label would be light enough to read but dark enough to not see the rotation and also a grey Pin...

It would be geared to the avid tourney player...

Black Panther is a bad name for a bowling ball, seeing as some people may find it offensive. It was a militant black group....

I think if people don't want to throw a ball just because it is pink, they aren't very secure. It's a great ball period. Color shouldn't have any bearing. Talk them into just trying one, they won't be disappointed.

I'm sure some of you bowlers remember when Hammer came out with the Pink Hammer--I heard the same kind of talk, but when some of us saw the scores that were being shot with it most of us changed our tune.  I would gladly buy a NIB one now if available.

Simply put, this ball may be PINK, but it sure doesn't act like it.  If you have a problem throwing a pink ball then maybe u are also not really worried about your scores as much as ur ball "looking good".  This ball scores, plain and simple....I might buy another one just b/c I like this one I have so much.  Real men have no problem throwing a pink ball, b/c real men shoot big scores and dominate the competition.

 I'll double that in spades!
The Pink Hammer was probably the strongest hitting, true dry lanes ball ever made, be it resin, polyester or urethane.
An NIB one in 15 or 16 lbs could easily be sold for $200 - 300, maybe more. If it had a decent pin distance, like 1.5 - 2", I'd pay $200 myself.

Well Ritchie wouldn't appear to be the type to shy away from a controversial name. I wouldn't be surprised if Black Panther would make a fine name for a ball. No publicity is bad publicity is the old adage. Never can tell when you get thrown a curve, especially if it is a buzzsaw.

I agree with Steven! When im throwing my Pink Panther everyone focuses there attention on my shots cause the color catches there eye when it goes down the lane. Not to mention all the women come up to me all the time about the color of the ball as well!

Beans,

Just got one, and it is a very good ball the way it is.  If it was black, then it would be just another black bowling ball.  As it is, being pink, mine has some white swirl in it, as others have stated, people start looking at the ball and not what it does.  I have not been bowling that much this year, and I am not the bowler that you are, but it has been a very long time since I got a ball, taped up the thumb to make it right, and then tossed a six bagger right out of the box.  Had a couple of opens, didn't really care about them, but what I saw is a very controllable ball that goes right thru the pocket and takes out everything.  No deflection, no bouncing around it is sweet.  Best part of this ball is, the move to the pocket is so smooth and deceptive that you forget how many boards this ball covers, and what it does when it gets there.  Definately a money ball.

And I probably will get another and keep it in the closet for pulling out on a rainy day.  This ball might be on the same list as the pink raspberry and the C2 cherry pearl.  If I find them again, I will keep them for sure this time instead of letting them get away.

The guys in the morning league always yell "Look out, here comes "pinkie"".  At least they did until I bowled back to back 700s and a 680 in a three week period.  They still make some comments, but our team is normally ahead by that time.

The next release is Definitly the Black Panther.  It's supposed to be stronger then the Pink and still a solid.  I may see my tester next week, so that would put the release somewhere around mid to late march.  Not SPECs yet, but will post up soon as I get them..

Yep. I have been throwing Storm and Track, but must admit, the Pink Panther is a special ball, every bit as good as the Virtual Gravity.  I have had several people trying to buy it from me and some have vowed to get one after seeing how it rolls and hits. Not a big, big hooker. Consistent midlane arc roll with great carry.

Was wondering what my next Lane 1 purchase would be. Guess I will wait for the Black Panther.
