Carry capibility
« on: February 21, 2004, 05:08:04 AM »
I have been using my golden nugget and carbide lrg, both with label drills, exclusively. and I am finding that the only way they will carry is if I slow it down, and decrease the amount of revs.  Has anyone else found this to be true?  Or is just the lane #1 way.

i would suggest that you try a different drilling-label gives more length and a bigger backend, but you may want to get an earlier roll.try drilling pin under with cg kicked out....nice strong curve to the pocket...should help

I find that if I let the ball do the work I carry about
50% more than if I am always hitting the ball or cranking it up.
guess what goes hand in hand with that speed and revs.
If my hand is open at the end of the release I carry the house!!

I agree with Buzzhead. My ball reacts exactly like he says his does when I do the same things he does.

FYI, this is one of the better balls I have owned. It's the first ball out of my bag unless the heads are dried. In that case, it's the Emerald.

I find that most of this issue of carry depends strictly upon the following.
1.  Matching the proper equipment to the lanes
2.  Having the ability to see the correct breakpoint on the lanes for that ball.  If I don't see where the weight block shifts and the ball begins it roll to the pocket, most of the time I find that I am using the wrong equipment.  And I don't care who's ball I am using.  With lane 1 stuff I am able to recognize this point easier than with other equipment.  I just have to get past the operator error, not be stubborn, and be willing to make either a move, change equipment, or change hand position (last).  After all bowling is a sport of repeatability.  I don't care what I have to do, As long as I can do it ball after ball, game after game.
