IF you have had major success w/BUZZ....
« on: March 02, 2008, 01:30:57 PM »
If you are having major success with Buzzbomb on medium THS synthetic lanes, Give me some details.

Your PAP if available?
How's it drilled?
Ball's surface? ex. 4000 abralon, etc.
What's your Ball speed?
Stroker, tweener, Cranker?

Guys, i'm about to panic, so far my label drill Buzz is the WEAKEST hitting ball in my bag (Enriched Uranium, Uranium HRG, Dirty Bomb, Black Cherry, G-Force, Evolution, Cobalt Pearl, Carbide Plus) ALL of these balls out hit my Buzzbomb in it's current condition.

I second that. Mine just skates and then fades touard the pocket...no turn. Your ball is drilled exactly like mine.

I bowl on 4 houses, two wood two synthetics

house one wood, cheap backs, fresh shot, tranistion kills most.  I play my stacked BB 15-8 most all of the first two games, carries well finds the hole
house two synthetics 41 ft clean backs BB kills this shot, I can go up ten or i can move deep, depends on where i want to be, Friday I played up ten with firm speed carried the world, pot bowling afterwards I played 4th arrow and shot 700+ for the first 3
house 3 37ft wood lanes, nice volume clean backs.  once again start the night 15 to 8 then move by big jumps late in the second game and take some hand out to float it thru the heads
house 4 42 ft synthetics clean backs  once again a 15-8 shot with a softer speed till the lanes open up

my stats
pap over 5 up 0
speed 17 mph
revs 400+
ball is drilled via Mo's dual angle layout pin to pap 4.5 drilling angle 60* val angle 25* this results in the pin up and right of ring cg almst stacked below

observations
out of box ball was incredibly strong, with box finish on and surface hit with polish this ball really shined up nice and still had a very aggressive move
not being satisfied, I went in and took the surface up to 1500 grit wet sad and hit it with polish again.  This i think is too much, my ball did skate some but being able to control speed at release the ball is still money.  So last week went in to the spinner again and hit it with the 1500 wet sand/no polish, this brought this ball back to where I wanted it, on the longer 41ft pattern that is a little heavier on oil this ball rocks up ten with speed and hand, but as the lane breaks down loses nothing on the lanes

for all of you guys with label drills I dont know exactly what to tell you, I have or have seen 4 balls out of the shop punched label and the guys love them they are anywhere from high speed strokers to tweeners to a power tweener, the ball kills for htem.  I dont believe pin high label is for this ball.  look at your bow tie guys and see how high the apex is on it, strong ball with a strong drilling if you are not strong handed enough it is going to be disappointing.  maybe one of the reasons the "prefered" drilling by lane 1 is a pin down cg out type

My experience with the Buzzbomb has been very good, I am a med. rev. stroker with a 16.5-17.5mph ball speed at the pins, and prefer a up the back release, but lately I have been able to hit the ball a lot more with some control. The Buzzbomb for me is stronger than my Shark, and sanded Supernova. I am a 202.3 average bowler over 3 leagues and 195.4 in tournaments this year, and not a set under 604 so far with the Buzzbomb with 12 sets bowled. My drilling is pin barely above ring with the cg kicked out about 45deg. it ended up with 15/16 oz side weight 3/4 finger.I am probably not a good judge of label drills because I have not had good luck with any label drill I have tried.

Well the 1st thing I see wrong is the pink grips...LOL J/K It looks like it is a short pin maybe a 2"? We almost have the same drill but I have about a 3" pin and the pin is a little bit down from yours and the cg is over a little more to the left.I left mine in oob and shot 300 with it in only the 5th game with the ball. The shot I was throwing on was a second shift with the carry down all over the place.I was throwing the ball around 16.5 to 17mph, with alot of hand behind it.I was standing at 31 throwing out to the 10 board and it was walking right back in where most of the other guys on my pair were having trouble making it to the pocket. My driller won't drill any ball under a 2" pin.

Irish,

Sounds like yours is drilled like mine but I can't get mine to do squat. It just skates and then fades toward the pocked. I have tried several different surfaces and polishes and nothing.

I've only bowled five practice games with mine so far, but the more I throw it, the more I like it. Heavy mid-range roll with real backend. Balls that are special usually don't take long to convey the message, and the BuzzBOMB is a special piece.

I have the 'pin below the ring' drill discussed by T-GOD. I have medium high revs, but certainly don't rip the cover off the ball.

I'm with triggerman on much of what he said. I don't know about a pin high label drill on a bomb core, but my sense is that it's not optimal. Pin high label drills are usually selected by bowlers with lower revs and higher tracks. It's a safe drill for bowlers who have trouble with their track clipping the middle finger, and it also provides for some skid before generating a little flip.

The BuzzBOMB has a very aggressive cover wrapped around an aggressive core. So bowlers with at least medium revs are going to get the most out of it. If you're a lower rev player, you'll have to be very careful in how you set it up. But the same can be said of very strong equipment from any company.

Irish thanks for your observations, however, my specs are perfect @ NIB the specs were 15.3oz 3" pin 3oz tp. Also, i threw a 300 with my silver streak se and after that i doubt i shot a 220 with that ball, i'm looking for more than one game. But thanks for your reply.

Don't know pap (the proshop has it and is not in today so I will follow up with it)

Drilling is a 4 x 3 drill with a weight hole - 2 inch pin - 16 lbs ball - Don't know what original top weight was

Ball Surface is oob. Soon to be sanded up to 2000 and polished

I would say in between a stroker and a tweener. Lower revs about 16 to 17 mph.
Normal line is on the outside anywhere from 12 to 5 (sometimes 20 to 5 if there is not enough oil on the outside to hold). Nothing fancy but am pretty consistent.

For Starters. I have a Dirty Bomb that I had bought off of ebay cheap (not the greatest specs but for $40 new who would complain) and had it drilled label. It would not even try to make a move. The pro shop guy wanted to try another drill and we changed it to a stacked drilling and the difference was night and day and 2 years later it still is my first ball out on league nites that I know don't flood the lanes normally.

Now with the Buzzbomb. At Nationals, this thing was a monster. I am not a big swinger nor have the revs to force it to flip in but this thing made me play that line anyway while it did the work. On the THS I usually am starting out 20 to 5 with it and adjusting left from there but this thing needs oil (preferably alot in the heads) or it will burn out.
