Anyone throw the XXL yet?
« on: September 23, 2003, 02:15:53 PM »
I'm always looking for weaker stuff.  Bowling on dry lanes.  Blah.  Typical bay area.  Interested in the XXL.   Pearl urethane with a 2 piece core sounds great.  Anyone throw it yet and if so give us some info.

pchee2<~~~strokin the ball with cranker revs and spraying the lanes for an average of a buck 62.  This guy is full of STUFF!

A friend uses it, he says it's not weak at all.  The ball is too strong for dry lanes even though it is a pearl urethane, the core is far too strong.  You could probably use it for second shift without really hitting up on it, otherwise you'll have to get deep.

Speaking of pearl urethane, what about the Slate Blue Gargoyle Pchee ??  If the XXL is too much ( according to APK)....that one may work ?

It really all depends, the Slate Blue may be too much also.  That Gargoyle/Gryphon core is just as strong as the Diamond is.

Although I'm sure if you drill either of these two real weak and polish the piss out of them they'd work.

Personally I would go with the Slate but I already own a Glowing Amulet....basically the same ball just banana yellow.

Saw both the XXL and the Slate in my league last night. Bowling on a short 10 to 10 pattern, both thrown by medium rev stroker types. XXL looked to strong for the dry, really jumped off hard when it got going outside. The Slate revved some early but that cover looks really weak. Didn't jump off the dry at all. Both seemed to hit pretty hard. I think both guys shot around 650. Slate is definetely one of the nicest looking balls you'll ever see, if that means anything to ya.

pchee2 - The XXL is still too much ball for you.  I bet you could use it on a heavy oil flood and it would still work.  I would think a ball with absolutely no core in it and a coverstock made of teflon would be about right for you.
