Here's my current arsenal, what Lane 1 would work for my needs
« on: September 18, 2005, 03:02:36 AM »
Currently I am happy with the balls I have, but I am looking for a ball for some of the drier lane conditions I encounter in my tournament bowling.

My shot is a stroker, never more than 16 mph.. can play the swing shot but also like the down and in sometimes!  Need versatility with all the conditions I face!

Ball # 1  Storm X-Factor Ace..  Love this ball on most anything!  Almost always the first ball out of my bag... Can play it from 25 across 15 out to 10 with no problems..

Ball #2 Storm Diablo.. Just got it this week, but seems to like a medium to medium heavy oil pattern..

What Lane #1 ball would compliment this pair for some of the lighter conditions?

Pearl Uranium is not for lighter condition, especially to play down-N-in

Tsunami, from what I have heard, it is stronger than the H2O

I would say go with the H2O, and to be able to play down-N-in on lighter conditions, don't go with strong drill .. prolly label 1:30 will give you the length you want and yet nice finish

Well, I'll throw in my opinion. Both of your current storm balls are pretty aggressive, one being particle & one being solid resin with 800 matte finish. The u pearl & the H2O would both probably fit under those, however you said down & in on dryer conditions. I think the H2O would be the best of the 2 for what you want. The H2O is not a weak ball, but I think much better for down & in than the u pearl would be.

Thanks for all the responses..  I have heard that the new Tsunami will have more mid-lane roll than the H20, so I think that rules that one out..  I will give the H20 a look and if that doesn't fit my needs I will try and find a Uranium Pearl!  Thanks guys for all your wisdom!!

GTX....lighter conditions are not often conducive to a down and in line.  I'm thinking the U-pearl would be a good choice.  My H20 is much stronger than advertised.  I love it, but it was definitely more than I had expected.

I did not mean for my post to sound the way you took it.  The pearl uranium will be too aggressive, uncontrolable on dry confition .. where the H2O will handle the dryer condition much better

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Wayne!

I also agree Bullet is perfect for straight down and in on light to dry.  H20 maybe its definitely longer than the uranium which no offense but i would never have recommended.  The H20 would probably work although I think the best choice is the bullet.  If you got that H20 for $140 I would go ahead and use it.

IMO, the Bullet might be a little to weak for what he is looking for. I think the H20 might be a better fit. My Bullet needs dry to move at all. H20 will handle a little more oil better. On edit..I missed where he was looking for drier conditions. In that case, yes, I would recommend the Bullet. Although, that is a good price on the H20. Give it a tamer drill and maybe some polish on it and might work just as well.

Agree with above that the H20 will handle coming off the dry better. The cover is not as jumpy off dry as the U-pearl would be.

Just my opinion of course, but in actuality, a U-pearl, H20 or Bullet would be nice.

that's what I thought at first Trigger. Depends on his definition of drier conditions though, a Bullet may work.

Well, why not try drilling the H2O with the pin above the bridge....would tame it down a lot. I also don't see where it says that he is looking for a ball to play down-and-in on drier conditions. It says he swings the ball, but likes to play down-and-in sometimes. Two very different statements. If he's looking for versatility with his ball, then I think that the Bullet would be too weak to swing like he wants...right? And the Uranium Pearl would be too strong to throw up the boards...right? So why not go with a bit tamer drilling on the H2O? I'm no saw expert by any means, as I've only thrown like 3 of their most hooking balls so far (Super Carbide Bomb, Super Carbide, and Carbide Bomb)...but have a Uranium Pearl and a Dirty Bomb (thanks Jesse) that I'm just drooling over...

PS...JPRLane1, I regret to inform you that Saws might not be the most of one company in my arsenal after all...I might have more Visionary when all is said and done...but I'll still rep the FOS!
