Is this a Silver Diamond Buzzsaw?
« on: October 16, 2006, 09:45:13 AM »
Found this ball on the rack. No nicks, fingers plugged and shortened 3/16 each. Good surface. What is it?

If it looks a Blue Dot and says "Lane #1"  and "Buzzsaw/C" on it, with the buzzsaw symbol, then it's a Silver Diamond. Looks like typical label leverage put on by 49,739  pro shops. How it reacts depends on your PAP, ball speed, tilt, etc. SHould flip fairly hard on  medium-light to medium oil patterns - enough to blow lots of racks.

I still loved when it first came out and Lane#1 was mostly unknown. Everyone would say words like, "Wow! you can really hook a Blue Dot!"

You better make sure some open bowler didn't grab someone's ball off the return and later return it to the house racks before you steal it.

Not only is that a Silver Diamond, but, judging from the tint, it may well be an original which, imo, was the best version of the Silver.  I have an original and still love it.  I had a re-issue, drilled about like the one pictured, and didnt like it nearly as well.  Just a bit of a warning - GUARD THE PRECIOUS or someone will try and tell you it's a blue dot and steal it away from you.

We've had this discussion many times here.  The general consensus is that any ball on the rack, no matter how it got there, belongs to the house, so you're stealing from them.  I was more alluding to the possibility that some one's ball got placed on the rack by mistake.  They might return hoping the ball is still there.

If you go into wal-mart and take something off the shelf and try to leave without paying for it, that is shoplifting. It isn't yours, it belongs to them.

 Same thing.

point taken, but this is not the case. This house has absolutly no house balls. 95 percent of the balls on the rack at this house are previously owned bowlign balls. If something was left there, the owner left it there and does not want it back. And since this bowling alley is closing soon, i doubt that they will really care.

Sounds like flimsy rationalization to me.  Like I said, once abandoned, balls become property of the house.  It's up to the house what to do with unwanted balls, not it's patrons.

Great find....If a bowling center pays for a ball for open bowlers, the ball belongs to them. But if I place a ball on the rack which I paid for, it's fair game for anyone....9
