Lane 1's drill sheets?

How accurate do you guys find Lane 1's drilling sheets?  I noticed that the Cobalt bomb is a lot different than the EU.  One of them has big back end numbers for a label drill and the other has med back end numbers for the same label drill.

Your talking about two entirely different balls.  One has a diamond core the other has the bomb core, different coverstocks, etc.

I don't see nothing wrong with them being different.

cobalt label stack drilling says : flare 9 and hook 9
but you have to look at the ball hook rating itself which is 65

EU stacked has flare 8 and backend 8 .. hook rating for the ball is 110

so cobalt is 90% of 65  and EU is 80% of 110

you do the math

Maybe I wrote my question wrong.  What i'm trying to say is with all symmetrical balls I have owned the drill layouts produce similar reactions.  For example if I want a big back end and length I would put the pin 5.5" from my pap above the bridge and kick the cg right to 1oz.  Now this layout will produce a big back end in any ball.  Now of course it will only give you the back end that the particular ball has.

Now with the lane 1 drill sheets this is not the case.  There saying for a biug back end it should be drilled like patter A.  Then on the other ball for a big back end they say drill it like pattern B ect...  I'm just using the A and B pattern as an example.  I know it's not called A or B but i'm sure you get the gist of it.

I would think that having the pin at like 5.5" from your pap on ethier of these balls it would produce just about the biggest back end you could get from the layout.  The way Lane 1 has it 1 layout produces the biggest back end and on the other ball it's a completely different layout that produces the biggest back end.  That just doesn't make much sense to me.

the drilling sheet is only a guide ..

for me, I always go with : 3-3/8 stacked or 5 stacked (pin over the fingers)

lane1 balls share the same org weight block (diamond or bomb) and they differ by the modifications lane1 does to it.

saying I want length and big backend is what all bowlers want ... the question is, which layouts work best with your style ?

for the EU and the cobalt, stacked drilling gives you ( 8 & 8 ) and ( 9 & 9 ) .. this is been the same with all lane1 balls ...

1:30 label give you more backend, but it is an arcing hook where the stacked is a bit sharper .. so yes label has bigger backend but because it is an arc it will not be noticable like the stacked backend

Thanks I get it.  I just wanted to make sure in case I buy any lane 1 balls in the future.  I got my first lane 1 ball (cobalt bomb) about 2 weeks ago and it seems to be a great ball so far.

I use two different layouts for symmetrical balls.  I have 1 ball drilled stacked leverage and the others are drilled with the pin above the bridge(5.5" from pap) and cg kicked right to 1oz and no balance hole.  The second is my absoloute favorite layout.

  I don't use drill sheets.  However I was looking at the ones on Lane 1's site and I noticed the difference in there numbers for the same layout.  That is what kind of struck me as being strange.  That is why I posted this question because I was not sure if these balls were anything like Mo Rich or Track asymmetrical balls.  I normally tend to stay away from asymmtrical if I can help it.

Well my Cobalt Bomb is drilled with my favorite layout(pin 5.5" from pap above my bridge and cg kicked right to 1oz).  The ball gets good length and has a big backend that is very predictable.  It also hits very well.  I'm impressed with the ball and can't wait to try it this next Sunday at my league.  I want to see how it works on a fresh tough shot.
