I'm going to have to wait.  As much as I like saws, not everyone of them matches up to me.  Pearl bomb, blueberry, great.  Propurple - Silver diamond, OK but condition specific.

A previous post on here said that the coverstock was Lane#1's answer to the Activator coverstock and the core is supposed to be the densest that ABC has ever tested.
Plus not having any mini-diamonds and the big diamond w/o a flip block could make this a very versatile ball. I guess only time will tell........

Here is the exact words Lane 1 Emailed to me yesterday in answer to one of the questions I Emailed them:

"The Uranium Buzzsaw wasn't necessarily made to fit in our line differently, than the Golden Nugget. They can both cover similar conditions. The Uranium has a smoother transition where the Golden Nugget has more of a defined breakpoint."

They also said in an Email prior to this one: "Thanks for checking out our website, hope you've enjoyed it. The Uranium will handle a wee bit more oil than the Golden Nugget and give you a smooth, strong, continuous hook on the backend. This ball is like an Emerald on steroids."

It's good to see the comparisons because when you check their site, they give the Uranium a 23 hook rating (same as Black Cherry) and give the GN a 24. Then you read the posts and most see the GN less aggressive than the BCB.

The videos help the most for me - it would be nice to see video comparisons the way Track has done w/ some of their line.

I drilled out a Uranium for myself and had the chance to do some preliminary testing and here's what I have found...

2nd shift house shot oiled 8 to 8 50 units, 28 feet downlane, buffed to 40. Outside 8 is 6 units to the ditch.

Drill pattern:
Since I had success with the drilling, I used the same drill pattern I have on my Inferno and the Big Blue. Pin is above the bridge with the cg kicked 1-1/2" right. Ending specs: 1/2 oz finger, 5/8 oz side, 1-1/4 oz top weight, small weighthole on PAP (3/4" x1" deep)

My sales rep told me to just roll the ball and watch it work. Well I can say he is 100% right...if you try to force this ball, it's gonna fizzle out on you.

Was able to play the same line as my Inferno (stand 25, play 15 to 8) but that is where the similarity ends...the INferno is all about backend. The Uranium starts up much sooner and had a much better read downlane. With the Inferno I had maybe 3-4 boards of area. With the Uranium I had about 8...no exaggeration. the Inferno was also much more sensitive to ball speed and wrist changes than the Uranium was.

Out of the box I go stone 4, next 9, leave a stone 8, spare for a 279 game. Not bad!!!! I have never done that before.

my 4x4 drilled Emerald does more on the backenbd than teh Uranium but I also left a plethora of splits and 4's and 9's with the Emerald due to the sharper backend. the Uranium is much smoother.

As for hook potential, it's more than the Emerald but less than my Nugget (drilled 4x3, large weighthole in thumb quad).

Thus far I am inmpressed and I think the ball will be a great all around league type condition ball for most bowlers. Again my drill pattern was far from aggressive so I am sure it can be juiced up but I tend to drill stuff out so I get to use it in my home house...much more treaction and I don;t know if I could use it :-)

I do still have 4 left from my pre-order that are unsold. Drop me a message if interested.

Hmmmm. My Nugget and Emerald are drilled the same and the Emerald does the opposite of yours Doug, as it hooks more than the Nugget. Again, maybe it just looks like it does since it breaks later than the Nugget.

Brick,

I had a similar situation at first with the GN and the emerald.  I then found that the GN was burning up some.  Once I realized this, I used on a heavier condition and the emerald would not really wrinkle, but the GN seemed real comforatable.  Are you using the two on a drier shot?

Snakes, you may be right about the drier conditions. Around here, we seldom see anything more than medium oil at best. After, the first game in League play, the Emerald works well. The Nugget still will work if I can play deep enough, which I am trying to learn to do as that type shot is not "my cup of tea." The Nugget will play on pretty light oil too.

Yesterday, unusual for the two houses I bowl in, the oil in this one house was a little heavier and usually from 8 out it is dry. Yesterday there was light oil 8 out instead of dry. Tried Emerald in warm ups and it "didn't have enough" on the backend. Tried the Nugget and it worked better. Since I am not used to bowling on this type condition, it took me 5-6 frames to find a workable line. Struck out with 5 in a row for 193, then started next game with 5 in a row and ended up with 253 and 225 the last game.....

So you may be right as the Nugget out hooked the Emerald this one time. You bringing this up may give me a hint when to change balls quicker.
