Question regarding BuzzBomb/R and Agent Orange...
« on: April 15, 2010, 06:03:46 PM »
Over the past couple of months, my best performer on most league nights has been my BuzzBomb/R. Between it and my Break S75, I have pretty much everything covered between our medium-light Tuesday shot and our more difficult, medium-heavy Thursday shot.

However, there are times like tonight that I need something extra. The situation tonight (Thursday, higher-volume) was that the BuzzBomb/R couldn't be used until the lanes broke down, but the Break S75 was a little too much.

Since I apparently match up very well with the Doomsday core, I'm considering taking an Agent Orange, drilling it in similar fashion to my BuzzBomb/R (currently 3x3 with the factory, polished finish on it) and then adjusting the surface on the Agent Orange to bring it closer to the BuzzBomb/R. I'm thinking somewhere around 1000 plus a good bit of polish.

In your opinion, would there still be enough of a difference in cover aggressiveness to make this a good play? I really like the look I get from the BB/R, I just want something a touch stronger without being so strong that it ends up being a de facto oiler.

IMHO yes there is enough of a difference, beleive it or not a polished solid buzzbomb would hit that spot well too  The AO and BBR are both pearls, so a highly polished solid in that slot could be very good

I drilled my AO the same as my BB/R (4 1/2 x 4) and kept both w/ the box finish.  The only difference is my BB/R is 15 lbs and my AO is 14lbs.  I can throw both on a variety of conditions with the exception of super dry.  Last week I used the AO and BB/R and shot 4 good sets.  High game 280 low game 210.  I had 17 in a row with the AO and got stupid of not switching to my BB/R soon enough two 4 pins cost me an 800.

My biggest problem is speed since my AO is 1 lb lighter.  I seem to leave more corners when my speed pushes 18 mph.  I tried both tonite in practice.  My speed was up so I used the BB/R the first 2 games than switched to the AO game 3 and went 229, 227, and 222 and its usually the opposite AO to the BB/R.

I've debated on a different surface on the AO myself.  I got the AO in 14 lbs because of wrist tendonitis and I wanted a similar look to the BB/R.  I got all I needed with the AO hardest hooking ball I've ever thrown.  I'd like to see the doomsday core in Lane #1 again.  Let us know how you make out.
