This is an interesting, and I think relevant, observation. I was exclusively Lane#1 for close to 10 years. I decided to branch out because Lane#1 dropped their PBA Registration, and just as important, they went through what I think of as a 'dark' period after leaving Brunswick for their covers.   
 
When I did throw just Lane#1, I never had more than 6-8 balls. Overall, I felt each piece was fairly versatile over a wide range of conditions. I can't remember a Lane#1 I considered a dud. I still have many of the older Lane#1 balls I still throw. Right now, the Stealth Bomber is one of my favorite pieces among everything I own.
 
On the other had, when I went to the mixed company arsenal strategy, I ended up buying many more balls. Many ended up being narrow in usability, so they sat most of the time. I've found a few gems in the Columbia, Motiv and Storm lines that get a lot of continuous use, but I've had to purchase many balls to find them.


I guess the short of it is that I could probably be happy with a much smaller Lane#1 arsenal and be just as effective (or not). Each Lane#1 ball would cost significantly more, but my total net dollar outlay would be less. Maybe this is all just a psychological head trip, but at least in my case, real world empirical evidence says it's true.

Yes sir you have the right idea now. I am just at fault as anyone when it comes to wanting the newest ball out, I mean who doesn't right? lol However over the years I find myself buying more bowling bags and more balls etc. then I end of having a bunch of different layouts. Then the balls become pattern specific and I hardly used most of them. Then when I don't use them I have to consider plugging them and drilling them again or just selling them. What a waste of money that was.

That's correct it will cost a few bucks more but you are getting a lot more ball. Its hard to want to follow a brand when most bowlers go to other companies. Sure it's appealing when a company comes out with a new ball every 30-45 days. They hype it up and its all new technology and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside that you just spent $230 and got the newest ball. But if you are spending over 200 bucks every few months on a new ball, and more bags and use more different blah blah layouts thinking you have it figured out this time and nothing has changed. Then folks tell you, that you are bowling wrong that you need to adjust this or that in your approach etc. That's all because you are getting into ball dynamics that don't fit your physical game, so you have to change how you roll the ball to make it work. That's a bad idea and you just went backwards in your game.

Think about this, all the tens of thousands of dollars each one of these huge companies spend in giving out free equipment to staffers and other people each year. How much ahead of that debt do you think they are? It's hard to know exactly, but its a great thought.

I was only speaking in general across the board not to you directly. 

 It's frustrating I know, and as a lifetime bowler that I am I have done the exact same thing and have felt the same way. I just want my bowling to be simple and score great. This is Lane#1's main focus for their customers. Helping you keep it simple and score great. Helping customers understand their game and bowl better  through knowledge and Lane#1 equipment.

I will always do my best to help any bowler reach their goals. There might be times when I am wrong and I have no problem admitting when I am.
