Lane #1 Liberator Review...BuddiesProShop.com
« on: January 05, 2008, 04:15:14 AM »
Well, we got the Liberator test ball a bit early, thanks to the guys at Lane #1.  The ball came in an unmarked box, so we weren't sure what to expect.

I laid it out 4" x 4", with the pin 3 3/4" above my grip line.  After scaling it out, the ball needed a hole, so I placed it on my VAL, 2 1/2" below my PAP.

My first impression is that this will be a very popular ball.  There are very few smooth and predictable balls left on the market, and the urethane cover gives a ball motion that is the epitome of that.  Add a proven 2-piece core for hitting power, and you have a winner.

The Liberator gave me an early roll and smooth backend on every pattern I threw it on.  This is the only ball on the market like this, and the many callers and customers that ask for 2-piece urethane are finally getting what they want.

Buddy,

What will this ball do on fried 2nd shift shot?  Keep in mind that I have good ball speed.

Depends how "fried" the lanes are.  If there is still some volume in the heads and the backends are toasted, then this ball would be supreme.  If the entire lane is burnt, you might need to add polish to clear the heads (dull urethane + ZERO oil = ugly )

The urethane cover takes surface adjustments nicely, so don't be afraid to tweak it to meet your needs.

Wouldn't this be the time to pull out the XXXL?

Thanks Buddy, the shot I was referring to was one with some head oil, but the backs were toast.  I was hard pressed to keep much from moving too early, and the XXX had trouble when it encounter the what oil was there.  It will fit nicely, and I may go with the pin above the ring.

Buddy,

How would you compare the Liberator to the XXL?

Thanks,

The Liberator will hook a touch earlier than the XXXL.

The XXL went long and backend was about as strong as a resin ball. After seeing the video, the Liberator gives you the classic urethane look, with a soft backend. =:^D
