Okay, I consider myself rather reserved in my first impressions when using
a newly drilled up ball for the first time so this surprises me that I am
going to say, "the cobalt is a real winner" at least for my game.

First, just got a 15 lb-1oz cobalt, 2-3 pin, 3.9 oz top weight before drill.
Drilled it pin below ring finger, cg kicked out about 1.5 inches. Kicking the
cg out a bit smoothes out the break point somewhat.

I have been using a 16lb uranium pearl all season during my thursday night
league. I decided to give the 15lb cobalt a try last night instead. First time
I even tossed the ball and my first 15lb-er (drilled it wednesday, used it
last night). So, with no practice I went ahead and risked using it right off
the bat. (I usually will throw some practice games with a new ball before
breaking it out in league.)

It was like there was a bowling gnome living in the ball telling it where the
pocket was and navigating the ball to the pocket every shot. I was amazed.
Others around me were amazed. (Think I sold some cobalts lastnight)

Remember, this is cold, no practice, tossing the ball for the first time not
really knowing how it would match up, fresh medium shot.

First game out of the box: 257. Started off with X, spare, spare, X,X,X,X,X,X,X,spare

Second Game: 197. On seven X's, back to back opens in 5th, 6th frame when I
tossed the ball through the nose, the lanes began to transition and I didn't
adjust fast enough with the ball mostly because I didn't exactly know how and
when the transition would affect my line tossing the new ball. I adjusted
after the 6th frame three boards left with my feet. X's started up again.

Third Game: 246. Left a ringing ten in the fill ball of the tenth.

The ball moved down the lane and then screamed back to the pocket. I played
around 3rd arrow most of the evening out to around 5-8th board.

Series total: 257+197+246 = 700 pins. Pretty good night.

Now, will the ball automatically do this everynight? Probably not, but my
own anecdotal evidence based on a rather small data pool gets me pretty
excited about potential here. I have never had so much area, had such good
carry, and such a good look all night as I did last night especially while
trying to get used to a newly drilled ball at the same time. This one is
gonna be a keeper.

Anyway, take it or leave it, my lone opinion is that the cobalt might be
a real special one.

  Second Series....

    222, 213, 224 = 659 series....  Love that cobalt so far. Woohoo!

If I would just not lose focus one frame a game, I would have added 15 pins to
each score. Damn, the mental game. (Each game - one open).

Well, third night tossing the cobalt bomb. In fact, only the seventh
game using the cobalt, I throw my first 300 game. So, yep... I'm still
liking the cobalt. Got a handshake from practically everyone at the alley
last night....

Nine games into using the Cobalt... Average of those games? == 226.6

Thanks BigDog.... I just wish I coulda kept it going instead of basking in the afterglow of the game. Well, now that I have one maybe I'll stay focused
the next go around.

  See ya at the lanes....
